Nice scan! That adjustable jitter speed is definitely handy

Yep, it works for me too! Now I don't have to hide or disable jitter graphs for my 16x LiteOn scans anymore.

Thanks, C0deKing.

Attached are Zipped REG files for setting jitter scanning speed to 1x, 2x, 4x and 8x and for resetting to default.

I also recommend using a jitter scanning speed of 4x.
Attached Files
File Type: zip Speed Jitter.zip (1.2 KB, 85 views)

Heck, that's too easy. My next version was going to have a GUI with selectable speed and set/reset buttons.

My suggestion is to change the registry value from being an absolute jitter scanning speed and make it a maximum jitter scanning speed instead.

Example: Speed Jitter = 4
When scanning at 4x and higher the jitter scanning speed should be 4x.
When scanning at lower than 4x the jitter scanning speed should be the same as selected PIE/PIF scanning speed (e.g. 1x or 2x).
I do not think that is a good idea. Jitter scan at each speed setting just reports what that drive encounters in that particular test. There is no need to have different settings for error and for jitter tests in the same run.

The people who requested the feature disagree with you. If you don't want to scan PIE/PIF and jitter at different speeds, then you can simply ignore this new feature.

I for one think the ability to scan PIE/PIF at 16x and jitter at 4x is a wonderful feature, since 16x scanning on my 165P6S drive is more likely to show problems than slower scans, while all jitter scans made at 8x and faster are practically worthless on that drive (they are totally dominated by a huge "wave" form that is independent of the scanned disc).

My suggestion is to change the interpretation of the separate Speed Jitter value, so that jitter is never scanned at a higher speed than PIE/PIF for those people who like to perform very slow (1x and 2x) scans.

That´s nice.

All spezial options for Benq and LiteOn available at the same time.
Thanks! In older versions it was hard to swap between the drives.....permanently open...swap drive...closing....opening again .

Now it´s great.

8x or higher jitter scans go all funny in most liteons. I used to scan @ 4x simply to get a nice accurate jitter graph. Now I don't need 4x scanning anymore. 16x scanning puts more stress on the disc. I've found it more useful. This feature is a very welcome one for myself, it saves lots of time.

Very good new feature.

I fixed the jitter in 4x using the scripts by Codeking.

This is a sample. Burned at 20x, PIE/PIF scan at 16x and jitter scan at 4x.

No "waves" in jitter.

Hi Erik, firstly a kind thanks for producing this great scanning tool. I have been using CD-DVD Speed for about 2 years but wouldn't classify myself as a true CD Freak since all I have is a Pioneer DVR-111L that I use for both burning and scanning I don't need the ultra accurate results that are expected from the enthusiasts here and the results give me a relative comparison of the media that I use (so far it seems like MCC004 is ideal for this burner)

However, I noticed that this version as well as the recently released 4.7.7.5 version has stopped support for the DVR-111L. I get a warning message that the burner is not supported for scanning, something similar to the versions of CD-DVD Speed of about 3 years ago. Is it because of the "unreliable" results of the DVR-111L or is it a program glitch that has somehow reverted back to the previous Pioneer restrictions of the 3yr old versions of CD-DVD Speed??

The burner is mounted in an external case with a PL-3507C chip and functions in the usual excellent way. I cannot use or test this internally as I don't have a desktop.

I can continue to use 4.7.0.0 for scanning but thought I might get some idea of what is happening. Appreciate your thoughts.

Cheers,

Pioneer scanning was removed at the request of Pioneer, at least some of their drives.

Thanks very much Erik Deppe for the improvements made.

I haven't tried it yet, but observing the posted screenshots above of the Disc Quality test and the Statistics windows it seems the speed of the jitter test is not recorded anywhere.
This is not a complaint but an additional suggestion:
Is it possible for a future version to report the Jitter speed used in the Statistics window?

Thanks again for continuing to improve a good tool and tolerating with the many suggestions I make.

I'm hoping that when Erik finds the time he'll add the 4x jitter in a higher speed scan option in the UI so a registry hack isn't needed.

Rightfully so as well I would think. I bet Pioneer had far too many emails from people saying, waaa my 112 etc is making crap burns, look at the quality scan etc. Pioneer drives aren't good for scanning, the liteons are the only drives out at the moment that are considered ok for scanning. Even then, far too many people make silly assumptions and whatnot based off scans.

I'm sure there's been an absolute truck load of people complaining about media, drives etc just based of a little scan they did. Most people think they are smarter than the store attendant or whoever because they know about quality scanning. But in actual fact, they are worse off knowing about scanning and misinterpreting the scans than they are having no clue and just relying on whether the disc TRT/Works in DVD player or not.
