I have one question about ScanDisk function in v4:
There are two options for scanning - "Read Test" and "C1/C2 - PI/PO Test".

If my drive doesn't support PO testing - is there a possibility that the media is unreadable and when I get green/yellow field if I use "C1/C2 - PI/PO Test"?
With "Read Test" - if if goes through - the DVD is OK right?

The list really needs to be updated. I assume both the new Benq 1640 and Nec ND3540 work with it? Any new & relevant drives added to the mix?

And shouldn't we open a new threat? after all, it's not "CDSpeed v3 Disc Quality Test" anymore

(Plus, reading 30 odd pages is tiresome to say the least)

CD-R scan doesn't work on my drives either and disk info looks like this:

Is anyone else having this problem with V4?

After clicking any tab (even the currently selected Benchmark tab after program start), the function keys stop working i.e. F9 Create Data Disc .

Did you try selecting C1/C2-PI/PO Test instead of the Read Test? Same thing happens to me in the 1620 for the Read Test. But the C1/C2 Test works OK.

The V.4 seems to work in the LG4120B for scanning CD-R but not DVD. Attached are comparison scans of the LG4120B and BenQ1620 on the same disc.

Same here. Seems like the function keys aren't (re)enabled after switching back to "Bechmark".

Doesn't work for my GSA-4120B@4160B A302 and GSA-5163D, both connected via USB 2.0.

Erik, there is a bug in the image saving process:

When a -R disc is inserted, it's label shows ┐┘─
and if the template for naming image includes %I , the save image button simply don't work... removing %I makes the button work again.

please look into it.

Yep, I tried that also.
Not supported with this drive at least.

It seems with all the cool new features, v4 is less compatible to different systems. My BenQ 1620 gets the same problem on CD-R scan disc as described by Wesociety. It reads the entire disc in uber fast speed (about 133X) and finishes the whole thing as 100% damaged. I'm guessing that somehow a DVD reading mode is initialized instead of a CD reading mode, thus the fast speed and wrong information. c1/c2 test in scan disc tab works fine though. Also, if I put in a DVD-R (as that's the only DVD media I have around currently) and attempt to scan it with either test selected, it "generates an error" and crashes the program entirely.

Here's the relevant spec on my rig:
Windows 2000 Pro with SP4 & all windows updates (problem exists even when logged in as administrator)
512MB Kingston PC3200
AthlonXP 2500+ (barton)
BenQ DW1620 (firmware: B7V9 completely unmodded) connected via a 40pin IDE flat cable as the secondary master (UDMA2 is in effect)
Western Digital CaviarSE 80GB SATA
Radeon 9550 128bit 256MB by Sapphire

Nothing is overclocked except my display adapter. However, it's only overclocked when playing 3D games anyway.

erik, there is a weird behavior with v4:

when selecting a write speed in options, it is enforced only when burning a test disc. when doing "burn image file", the write speed is not the same as the selected.

Drive is NEC 3500, disc is ricoh +R x8 (mid ricohjpnr002), os is winxp sp2.
silected speed is X8
with test disc, burn is x8 ZCLV
with image file, burn is X4 CLV....

Not sure if this bug has been reported. Too many pages to go through to check.

When I scan a disc then switch drives in the drop down drive selection and try to scan a disc I get an error and have to close CD Speed in order to do another scan. I forgot to make a note of the error though sorry :P

Another bug to report (sorry if this has already been posted)...

It seems that erasing a CD-RW doesn't work with v4. I put in a CD-RW, and bring up the dialog to erase a disc, and the buttons to do so are grayed out. I then open up Nero Express, and it happily lets me erase.

v-4, just did a datadisc on a DVD-RAM on my LG, and the save button would not do anything. So was unable to save an image in the usual way.

A new version will be released later this week which includes fixes for the following problems:
- Disc Quality Test always gives an error if the drive is not the selected drive when starting CD-DVD Speed
- screen capture cannot be saved if the MID code can't be read correctly
- function keys are disabled after switching back to the benchmark page
- Disc Info: Physical Format Information is shown instead of Pre-recorded information in lead-In (DVD-R/-RW only)
- ScanDisc: read test for CDs doesn't work with drives who cannot report damaged sectors

With "Read Test" - if if goes through - the DVD is OK right?
With the Read Test you can check if all sectors are readable. If they are you can retrieve all data from the disc.

PO errors should not exceed the green area and the drive should not slow down during the scan.
8x is the recommended scanning speed.
