So I have just started testing some burns with Nero CD-DVD Speed. Same drive, same media, but two burns which seem to me to be quite different.

first:
PI errors- ave 1.34, max 12
PI failures-ave .05, max 3
quality score 93

second
PI errors- ave 3.53, max 22
PI failures- ave .61, max 5
quality score 84

I beleive I burned both of these with the burning speed set to "maximum".

So is this typical to have two burns so far apart? Of course I still don't know that it matters, all my burns have played fine on my old Toshiba player.

Thanks

Did you scan at the right speed for your burner (the drive that did the scans, that is)? What burner do you have?

Both questions out of pure curiosity!

Posting a graphic of the test would be good, too - there's an icon at the top right of the CDSpeed window shaped like a floppy disk. Click that, it'll save the test result as a nice pic!

Thanks for the reply.
The scan speed was set at 4 both times.
The burner is a DigitalMax, which is supposed to be a rebadged Lite-On (my rebate was mailed to Lite-On, and I can scan with KProbe).
I'll see if I can post the images.
Note: I scanned the one disc again, with slightly different tesults than what I posted earlier, though very close.

I was told results like on the first screenshot are good, so what is the problem with that one?

My questions was not so much whether these were good scans or not (though I am still figuring that out also), rather is it typical to see variation like this from one disc to another when I am using the same hardware, same burn speeds, etc.
