| Not sure what to make of this post, DoMiN8ToR. We all know that performance-wise, SSDs are superior to HDDs. However, when considering cost-per-GB and drive volume size, HDDs are superior. Slow news day? LOL. |

As for slow video maybe they should consider all the junk being loaded that causes those slow loads and playback rather then just blame the HDD for the slow playback. I seen where people had so much junk loading and toolbar and screen junk loads that caused the system slow down and once those junk was removed the system ran like new. So just blaming the HDD being slow is just a no brainer there are many other factors like what users install on their system without thinking or knowing it will be a cause and effect that will slow their system down. They like to have so much stuff running and then ask why is my video so slow and don't take time to think what did I install to slow my system down???? Last edited by coolcolors; 18-06-2012 at 20:00. | That's an interesting video though. I've never seen the mechanism in a hard drive in action before and the speed of that is amazing! Wombler

Disc platters actually are water proof, they're a glass-metal compound. Not sure about the additional electronics though. The casings make great ashtrays though. It's a shame they didn't film the reading parts more closely and from different angles. It's actually a very interesting process.

| Back in the good OLE days of SCSI drives, those things got so damned hot that people used to leave the cover off for cooling purposes (summertime, of course). Also, I've seen PC enthusiasts put a clear cover over the internals just to see the parts move through the mounting on clear plexiglass cases. Of course I wouldn't mind all that technology to be (in 1-3 years time) replaced by a 4 terabyte USB (3.0) flash drive the size of my thumb. Not as sexy, but you could stack 8-10 of them and have 32-40 terabytes of.. well, whatever.. pron, tron, taiwan, king prawn |
