No Sound with Downloaded avi movie

I am not sure if I am on the right thread for this or not, sorry if I posted to the wrong thread, but I have downloaded on bittorrent a movie in avi format. when I try to play it, there is no sound. Do I simply have a bad download or is there some other issue.

Drop it on Gspot to see what kind of audio should be there. Or try playing it in VLC. If VLC can't play it, you probably got burned on your download. If it's a commercial release, go to Walmart and buy it...Then you will have the audio.

Well, if it is from Bittorrent, it is most likely a bootleg movie, which is probably junk!

If you don't know what any of the above means ... try installing a codec pack like Klite Mega Codec pack ... and also Video Lan Client (VLC).

thanks for the help. it appeared to be a bad download. I re did it and now have sound.
