Hi,

for english readers: click!
and for the german readers: klick!

for everyone who does not want to read that much: MS says that there will be no Internet Explorer 7 available for Windows XP - this "new" version (7) will be released for Longhorn only...

MS says that until that time you should use 3rd party software to make your internet explorer 6 more comfortable and safe...

yeh, thats Micro$oft!

I enjoy IE as well. . . it is a great program and Microsoft is not so bad.

Off topic. . . It is not there fault that they are a monopoly, it's called great business skills. If anyone of us were put in that same position we would do the same things that they do. It's human instinct for us to want to dominate or have power over others. They have done a great job with the IE program and others have exploited the program for ways of hurting others (hackers). Instead of people always talking about how bad they are, how about you switch over to Linux and do something about it. Most people that talk about Microsoft are the same one's using Microsoft in their life. Microsoft is not just an operating system. They are involved in many charities, they make software for many different devices, and they are helping the working force of America buy employing thousands.

i agree 100%. i love Microsoft. and am not so asamed of them i have to write "Micro$oft or M$". stop winging about them, if you dont like the bugs use the "bug free" linux, im impressed they bother with updates at all, as far as i know they arnt legally obliged to provide them!

Firefox? - look at http://news.com.au (just one example) and compare with IE6. Nope, that's not impressive...

Haha. . . obviously you are another person who is on MS's nuts. Can't you just let them loose for a while. Maybe we use IE because we like it, not everyone has to follow you into the darkness and use Firefox. Let me clue you in on something. . . I doubt Firefox will survive in the future, regardless if officials from the government are telling you to use it or not. I hate to say it, but how can the government tell me to use something thats safe when the thing that I need to be looking out for most is: ding.ding.ding, the GOVERMENT! Microsoft has so much pull in this world that Firefox could be gone just like that: *poof*. They choose not to because it is good for competition in a society where they tell you to start your own business but then when that business gets to big they want to take it away from you. If you really want to go there, "I have no idea why" you are using Firefox. . . it's not even supported on half of the sites across the Internet. If you are going to make a statement like that you really need to back it up or at least be non-biased about your answer.

I for one have nothing against Firefox. . . I think it's a great shot at trying to take maybe 1 to 10 million people away from the hundreds of millions of people who are currently using IE. Obviously your .

@bcn_246: You are correct. . . they provide free downloads from there updates section while there are some companies out there that charge you for updates. Microsoft has always been supporting there programs and that dates back to when they first took hold of the market. Many companies have tried to immitate them but have not succeeded. They are not legally required to give us sh**, they choose too.

There are so many things that Microsoft could be doing to so many people but they choose not to. For example, Microsoft could probably sue so many people for having illegal copies of their software but they are not taking it that seriously. Instead of trying to sue you, they try to make better software to combat it. Maybe instead of being concerned about Microsoft, worry about the RIAA and the MPAA and their *hundreds* of pointless law suits.

Maybe CDFreaks should bar me from speaking in MS threads because I am a shareholder of thousands of MS stock and fully support them (although i still support others).

actually, microsoft doesnt give a flying f* about what the home user has. its the corporations / municipalities that have to be worried if microsoft comes calling about illegal software - as they will pursue that in court.

as for IE vs firefox, and what microsoft has announced - they have a long tradition of saying one thing and developing another. i wouldnt be surprised if they have preliminary builds with tabs in redmond.

and in reference to the "not compatible with half the sites on the internet" - thats hilarious. half the internet is not compatible with the standards set forth for the internet, then. i tried the www.w3c.org 's html tester on your site - didnt like it

well, i like MS, too!
BUT i don't like the IE... i used it a long time, lets say for nearly 10 years now (don't exactly remember when there was the first "good" release for win 3.x) - and since a few months i am switched to firefox and: hey, it's just better...
maybe, in 2 years when longhorn arrives (or will it be 3 years?!?) maybe the IE7 will be the greatest browser ever (not only the file-size... )

Nope, IE7 will be an IE 6.1 - including all the old never been fixed bugs but it will show some new, useless features. Betcha?
