Microsoft security bulletins are replaced by new Security Update Guide portal next month

Microsoft will no longer issue security bulletins for Windows and other software starting next month. The security bulletins will be replaced by the Security Update Guide (SUG) portal that is currently in preview.

January 10th was the last time Microsoft released security bulletins as individual web pages, something the company has done for the past 20 years. The new Security Update Guide will provide the security information via a dashboard instead. Users can search SUG by vulnerability, Windows version, Knowledge Base number, CVE number, or date of release.

"Instead of publishing bulletins to describe related vulnerabilities, the new portal lets our customers view and search security vulnerability information in a single online database," Microsoft announced in November last year.

Microsoft will no longer use bulletin identifiers for documenting new security updates. Those released before February 14 2017 will however be maintained, the company writes in a FAQ on the SUG website, where it also states that existing bulletin web pages will remain available.
