Re: Australian music industry raids KaZaA offices, universities and ISPs That's right, carry on pestering Sharman and Kazaa users, whilst Bit Torrent, E-Mule and all the others continue unhindered. I glad that Sharman are getting screwed and I hope this will be the end of Kazaa. Too many bloody leeches on it.......

Re: Australian music industry raids KaZaA offices, universities and ISPs something is wrong with Australia's laws if private groups are allowed to legally carry out raids on private property.

Re: Australian music industry raids KaZaA offices, universities and ISPs This is all starting to remind me of prohibition against alcohol in the US during the 20s and 30's. What next, will they come in wielding axes with insulated handles and start wrecking equipment? By the way it didn't work then and it won't work now. http://www.cato.org/pubs/pas/pa-157.html[edited by Crabbyappleton on 06.02.2004 22:09]

Re: Australian music industry raids KaZaA offices, universities and ISPs So this wasn't a raid conducted by Law Enforcement Officials? I'm confused, I didn't know Australia had Private Law Enforcement groups that could conduct raids? So they have one for the music agencies how many other groups do they consider official law enforcement.

| Re: Australian music industry raids KaZaA offices, universities and ISPs No, it is called an Anton Pillar Order and it can be conducted by anybody the court authorized. | Re: Australian music industry raids KaZaA offices, universities and ISPs @ lacunoil No the court is skipped with this order so the person/business doesn't know whats about to happen so they can't get rid of any evidence and there has to be a representative of the law present at the time of the raid. The reps in this case were 2 lawyers hired by the music industry. |

Re: Australian music industry raids KaZaA offices, universities and ISPs I think it's cute how private companies dictate the laws of australia. Hey I know, why don't we just let the mafia police the country, I'm sure they can afford to do it They'll ensure that the number of pirates is greatly reduced. "Reward for pirating is 2 broken legs and a free concrete block, oh, but you get great ocean views" Oh wait, sorry, for a moment there I got confused. I sure that mafiaRIAA isn't right.
