3ivx release update...

Only a day after the MAC version, the 3ivx player for windows is finished. You can download it here or here.

The official site http://www.3ivx.com/ was down for some time, so they created a mirror at http://www.hollywood.org/mirror/.

Also some answers to the reactions of our recent post:

How do I install 3ivx?

Windows: copy the "thriv1_decod.qtx" file inside "c:windowssystemquicktime" and restart

Windows NT and Windows 2000: copy the "thriv1_decod.qtx" file inside "c:winntsystem32quicktime"

Macintosh: copy "3ivX Delta 1 Decoder" inside your extension folder and restart

Movies for the player?
Some test movies can be found on their page:

As for the hardware requirements to play a DivX Video i don't know.... From this great DivX site i found:

We suggest the following minimum hardware Requirements. But remember faster is always better.
- 400Mhz PII or better (AMD K6-2/Celerons are OK to use but are known to skip because of the small L2 cache size)
- 64MB PC100 RAM
- 8MB AGP Video card
- PCI Audio Card

I don't know if the new 3ivx got the same requirements, but i think so...

Note: You want to know how to pronounce 3ivx?
