| I am not even sure if this is the correct forum, bad way to start the first sentence, but I do own a 1650. For some reason, which, I have been unable to figure out, everytime I try and burn a Verbatim DL, the burn process hangs around 46% or so. I rendered a football game with TMPEGnc, avi to mpeg 16:9, authored with Architect Lite and am trying to burn with Nero 6.6. Two weeks ago using the same avi file (rendered to 4:3) and same menu system, I was able to burn without any problems. I did everything this same, except I rendered the avi to a different aspect ratio, which shouldn't have any bearing on the burning. The discs are coming out of the same box I used a couple of weeks ago. GSpot says there is a corrupt header - " This is an invalid AVI file due to corruption of the data in the header. This is a serious problem, and this file is not likely to playable - Details: While processing chunk /RIFF:AVI , found bad length value 1073521156 at file offset 0x000107f8" - could this cause my burning issue? Here is the Nero log (I can't make sense of it): AutoRun : 1 Excluded drive IDs: WriteBufferSize: 83886080 (0) Byte ShowDrvBufStat : 0 BUFE : 0 Physical memory : 1023MB (1048092kB) Free physical memory: 545MB (559024kB) Memory in use : 46 % Uncached PFiles: 0x0 Use Inquiry : 1 Global Bus Type: default (0) Check supported media : Disabled (0) 26.4.2006 UDF/ISO compilation 10:19:08 PM #1 Phase 112 File dlgbrnst.cpp, Line 1832 DVD-Video files reallocation started 10:19:08 PM #2 Phase 114 File dlgbrnst.cpp, Line 1832 DVD-Video files reallocation completed (no file modified) 10:19:08 PM #3 Text 0 File Isodoc.cpp, Line 6314 Iso document burn settings ------------------------------------------ Determine maximum speed : FALSE Simulate : FALSE Write : TRUE Finalize CD : TRUE Multisession : FALSE Burning mode : DAO Mode : 1 ISO Level : 1 (Max. of 11 = 8 + 3 char) Character set : ISO 9660 Joliet :FALSE Allow pathdepth more than 8 directories : TRUE Allow more than 255 characters in path : TRUE Write ISO9660 ;1 file extensions : TRUE 10:19:08 PM #4 Phase 111 File dlgbrnst.cpp, Line 1832 DVD-Video files sorted 10:19:08 PM #5 Text 0 File Reader.cpp, Line 127 Reader running 10:19:08 PM #6 Text 0 File Writer.cpp, Line 122 Writer BENQ DVD DD DW1650 running 10:19:08 PM #7 ISO9660GEN -11 File geniso.cpp, Line 3309 First writeable address = 0 (0x00000000) 10:19:08 PM #8 ISO9660GEN -11 File geniso.cpp, Line 3309 First writeable address = 0 (0x00000000) 10:19:08 PM #9 Text 0 File Burncd.cpp, Line 3231 Turn on Disc-At-Once, using DVD media 10:19:11 PM #10 Text 0 File DlgWaitCD.cpp, Line 269 Last possible write address on media: 4173823 (927:30.73, 8151MB) Last address to be written: 3972991 (882:53.16, 7759MB) 10:19:11 PM #11 Text 0 File DlgWaitCD.cpp, Line 281 Write in overburning mode: NO (enabled: CD) 10:19:11 PM #12 Text 0 File DlgWaitCD.cpp, Line 2477 Recorder: BENQ DVD DD DW1650, Media type: DVD+R9 Double Layer 10:19:11 PM #13 Text 0 File DlgWaitCD.cpp, Line 447 >>> Protocol of DlgWaitCD activities: <<< ========================================= 10:19:11 PM #14 Text 0 File ThreadedTransferInterface.cpp, Line 830 Setup items (after recorder preparation) 0: TRM_DATA_MODE1 () 2 indices, index0 (150) not provided original disc pos #0 + 3972992 (3972992) = #3972992/882:53.17 relocatable, disc pos for caching/writing not required/ required, no patch infos -> TRM_DATA_MODE1, 2048, config 0, wanted index0 0 blocks, length 3972992 blocks [BENQ DVD DD DW1650] -------------------------------------------------------------- 10:19:11 PM #15 Text 0 File ThreadedTransferInterface.cpp, Line 1043 Prepare recorder [BENQ DVD DD DW1650] for write in CUE-sheet-DAO DAO infos: ========== MCN: "" TOCType: 0x00; | Update Nero. But the best idea is to create an image using nero and then burn it using ImgBurn!

| I created an image with Nero, did a test write with ImgBurn which said was successful, so I attempted a burn and it failed on me again at 49%. ImgBurn's error was - Failed to Write Sectors 1959808 - 1959839 - Write Error. At the start ImgBurn stated - This image has not been mastered correctly for burning onto a double layer (OTP Track Path) disc. None of the cells meet the 'DVD-Video Specification' criteria for a potential layer break position. ImgBurn also stated - Optimal L1 Data Zone Start LBA: None Found! (VTS_01). Maybe my issue lies with the layer break or this is becoming my conclusion. I authored with Sony Architect with the preferences set to 8.5 GB. I have tried burning with Architect and putting a layer break where it tells me to, but still can't burn this disc. |

| Yes, the LB seems to be the root of all trouble here.
