I am not even sure if this is the correct forum, bad way to start the first sentence, but I do own a 1650. For some reason, which, I have been unable to figure out, everytime I try and burn a Verbatim DL, the burn process hangs around 46% or so. I rendered a football game with TMPEGnc, avi to mpeg 16:9, authored with Architect Lite and am trying to burn with Nero 6.6. Two weeks ago using the same avi file (rendered to 4:3) and same menu system, I was able to burn without any problems. I did everything this same, except I rendered the avi to a different aspect ratio, which shouldn't have any bearing on the burning. The discs are coming out of the same box I used a couple of weeks ago.

GSpot says there is a corrupt header - " This is an invalid AVI file due to corruption of the data in the header. This is a serious problem, and this file is not likely to playable - Details: While processing chunk /RIFF:AVI , found bad length value 1073521156 at file offset 0x000107f8" - could this cause my burning issue?

Here is the Nero log (I can't make sense of it):

Update Nero.

But the best idea is to create an image using nero and then burn it using ImgBurn!

I'll give that a try. I already tried creating an image with DVD Shrink and burning with DVD Decrypter.

I created an image with Nero, did a test write with ImgBurn which said was successful, so I attempted a burn and it failed on me again at 49%. ImgBurn's error was - Failed to Write Sectors 1959808 - 1959839 - Write Error. At the start ImgBurn stated - This image has not been mastered correctly for burning onto a double layer (OTP Track Path) disc. None of the cells meet the 'DVD-Video Specification' criteria for a potential layer break position. ImgBurn also stated - Optimal L1 Data Zone Start LBA: None Found! (VTS_01).

Maybe my issue lies with the layer break or this is becoming my conclusion. I authored with Sony Architect with the preferences set to 8.5 GB. I have tried burning with Architect and putting a layer break where it tells me to, but still can't burn this disc.

Yes, the LB seems to be the root of all trouble here.
