| True, it's the only available at the moment. This is my 2nd scan with a Verbatim 16x written at 8x. Note again a PIF spike in the middle and jitter is a bit higher. Still not bad though. Please do not ask for scans written at 16x, my computer is too slow for it ![]() I think with virgin firmware, the drive already shows its potential. Maybe I will test lightscribe someday too |

| Great to see you got it working that fast. I was told today I wouldn't be receiving my external casing anytime soon, so I'm gonna buy one myself tomorrow as I work very close to a large reseller to which I should have gone in the first place. I will get some scans of lower quality media tomorrow for comparison (Platinums). Did you get it at the same price? € 52,50 is ridiculously low. I almost want to go buy a second one, although I have absolutely no use for it whatsoever , or does a burner wear down faster if you also use it as a reader (I need to convince my wife)? |

), so who cares? Thanks to you my friend, I got my BenQ so fast check out the price at zercom.nl, it's even lower! I think prices will rise when they will be out of stock fast. I am curious about how well your Platinums will perform! edit: my drive was also made in China, so all that stuff about made in China drives perform worse than drives made in Malaysia, I think it's just based on rumours... |

| I would be a little worried having a nearly identical large spike with 2 different kinds of media.... |

| AnotherFruitCake: Your scan is good, but not great. RICOHJPNR01 can be variable in quality, but when you have good ones they are usually very good. I burn these at 8x in several of my drives, mostly with very good results. You seem to have a bad spot on the disc at approximately the 0.3 gig mark. You might want to examine the surface of the disc, very close in to the center hub, and see if there are any anomolies or even dust present. All in all, this is a good burn but not one that you would ordinarily brag about. You might want to try another one at 8x, making sure that the disc is clean before you start. |

| Not bad, but CMC aren't very good media. Don't you have some Verbatims to test with? Also you shouldn't host your picture on imageshack, but in here. |

| Here is a scan of Verbatim Pastel colour DVD+R 8x YUDEN000-T02-00, burned at 8x, SolidBurn off for known media/Overspeed off/WOPC on Nice result with a 99% score. |

| Unfortunately, I do not currently have any better media, but I was trying to make a direct comparison between Motorcycle's Verbatims and my lesser quality media, using the same burner. It was not my aim to brag, on the contrary! Thnx for the tip Motorcycle. |

Just for the ppl living in Holland: I noticed already 4 shops having the black bulk edition of the DW1655 in stock. I couldn't find a shop that has a 1650 on stock though. But why should you wanna buy the 1650 when you can buy a 1655 for just 50 euros? |
