Hi
I may have answered this in my edits. However different tub (come in 25s') but same source etc.

Re: Post your BenQ DW1650 SL scans here

Francksoy, I just wanted to explain to Storm1234 what the relevant criteria for the quality score in Nero CD-DVD Speed is, because that's what he asked for. I didn't want to start a debate about the significance of the max. PIF value (spikes) in everyday use.

I was confused reading zebadee's posting, because it wasn't clear at first what he tried to say.

Hi
I've been putting my high PIE down to f/w. However just done this.
So Franksoy in answer to your post, looks like media & not f/w.

First burn with this mid since flash, default settings(no qsuite)

MID: RITEKG05
Burner: BenQ DW1650 BCFC
Burned at 8x with ImgBurn 1.2.0.0 (8:39 Min)

Hi
First burns 1,3 & 5 with MCC 004. SB enabled OS/WOPC disabled. I didn't save 2 & 4 as media damaged so not a true reflection.

Re: Post your BenQ DW1650 SL scans here

Hi
A brief return to MCC 03RG20. Pretty much the same only PIE & PIF have come down a little. So whilst the almost alarming high PIE is a blemish. This f/w looks promising. Add to that the reults with MCC 004, after initial reservations. I believe I'll stick with BCFC. Now the question is do I try the new f/w for the 1655?(Yes, your probably right, it's the w/e & I'm bound to yield to temptation).

Re: Post your BenQ DW1650 SL scans here

Ive burned a couple more of my Verbatim MCC03 media now. When i turned WOPC off the results became ALOT better. Now i get quality score @ 95-97 when burning the 8x disc @ 12x. When i had OS off and WOPC ON burning @ 8X i got 3 coasters in a row.

How can this happen ? Shouldnt i theoretically get better results with WOPC enabled ?

Second burn with BCFC. 4499 MB ISO written with ImgBurn. Did a simulated burn at 16x, completed successfully in 5:39.

The real deal only burnt at 8x max (8:56), even though 16x was selected.

Not terribly happy about the clumping, and I can't spot any dust or damage there.

Unbranded TY 8x DVD+R (T02)
SB/WOPC: On, OS: Off
Burned at 8x w/ ImgBurn

Drive seems to produce consistent results with three different batches of TY (Sony branded, and 2x unbranded printable). All three of my last scans are sequential burns from different stacks.

Re: Post your BenQ DW1650 SL scans here

Can someone please answer this question for me asap as I am relearning my T003's, If I just got a 97% QS with SB on for known media at the second burn should I turn SB off for known media so that it doesnt 'learn' anymore and change anything????

Re: Post your BenQ DW1650 SL scans here

Hi
If you disable SB it will revert to the stock strat in the f/w, bypassing your 'learned media'. Keep SB enabled to take advantage of your learned memory. It does alter (continues to learn), but changes ideally should be minimal & to the good. No guarantees though.

Re: Post your BenQ DW1650 SL scans here

If the media is learnt, and i deactivate SB and then reactivate it again at a later date for known media, will i lose what was learnt when SB was on for known media?

Hi
Not in my experience. The 'learned' memory is 'put aside' on re-enabling SB it starts off, from where it left off.

Re: Post your BenQ DW1650 SL scans here

Is it possible for a drive to be unable to burn higher than 97% with any media if the setup, comp spec etc does not change and only the media?

BenQ 1650 BCFC
OS, SB = On

RICOHJPNR02 @ 12x

First burn with BCFC. Second scan set is with BCDC. Interesting BCFC seems much slower!
