I don't think I've ever scored a 99 or even a 98 for that matter. I get 97's pretty darned consistently though!

Overall though not a bad burn and should certainly play back fine... maybe that batch is just a bit on the funky side?

Adding for your other question - to save the image and retain quality click the disc icon on the upper right-hand corner of Nero CD/DVD Speed after you do the quality test. Save the file as .png and attach the image as that. That's how we all do it, at least how I do it, and should work fine.
Thanks for the reply. Yes the spike still appears quite noticably when burning at 8x (actually never tried burning below 8x on these discs), I will post a burn at 8x next time.

Thx for the tip on the screen shot too! I actually pressed the PrintScreen button and got a very large image. Now I know next time

Hi, I made another scan of these discs under the brand of Radius for free after MIR at Tigerdirect. I can't complain since they're free, the result actually scored a 95%... even tho the stats don't look good, why is that? anyways, heres a pic.

That's about right for OptodiscR004's unfortunately. Not the best media in the world for BenQ's. They vary quite a bit from batch to batch in terms of quality.

Another fantastic TYG02 burn. It's 53 MB too short for me to enter it into the HALL OF FAME! Damn whoever came up with those requirements!

Anyway, it's a 12x burn that took 6:16. I think I'll add this to my signature!

My apologies... I had posted 2 of the above 3 scans on a previous page. So only 1 of the scans is new.

@nealh, Yes.. all of the scans I posted were burned on a 1620, and the MCC004's are Verbatim's 16X media. I don't quite understand your last question, but if you're asking if both my 1620 drives have the same MFG date, then the answer is no. All of the scans you asked about were burned on my newest 1620. If I had to say which of my 1620's was better, I would have to say my most rescent one is just a "tad" better.

I was asking if both drives were giving equal results or was one better than the other considering the different manufacture date of the 1620's

so I was so confusing

I never get tired of looking at scans of this media. This is the lowest scan for PIEs that I've ever had.

Moser Baer Staples branded 8x MBIPG101 R04 burned at 12x.

@Discentropy - what was that media branded as and what rated speed? That's some pretty burns there! Ahhh, nevermind, missed it somehow before and just saw it was Staples branded.

Actually, did want to ask what that media cost and what kind of spindles it comes in? Was kinda curious about that.

It was on sale last week for $8 for 25piece spindle. Of course, living in Delaware means tax free. This media also shows up in the 50pc spindles of Memorex. Just be sure to pick up the ones that say made in India. Staples has the 50pc Memorex spindles on sale this week for $20. There used to be some $10 of $40 for staples floating around as well. Not sure if they are still available/valid. As far as I now, Moser Baer is the only manufacturer in India, so it kind of takes the guess work out of it. (It will be a rude awakening if I'm wrong)

I have a couple spindle of -R from them too. I have to get busy and burn one of them.

edit: Someday I will start proofing my post. That day is not today!

BTW - I am kinda peeved about the spindle of Fuji TY G02 that I have (bundled with the 3500 from PC Connection when I got the drive). I noticed that it will burn at 16x on the Benq with excellent result. I was really excited to try so I gave it a go tonight and the burn froze at 70%. After the Benq finally gave up on its campaign, I popped the disc out and noticed an arc of dye spots along one edge!!!! I dug through the spindle and I can easily spot (to various degrees on severity) on approx. 75% of the discs. I guess no one's quality control is perfect. Now I have to wait for Worst Buy to have a sale so I can pull a buy and exchange deal. Oh, well.

RitekR04 scan looks ok Scuba Sam. Not anything spectacular but not terribly by any means. Hopefully as firmware releases go along they'll improve this media and its write strategy.
