Here is a 16x burn on Ty02 with wopc off took 5:36 min...real bad spike at the beginning..seems odd since the media is rated for 8x and this is in speed pspec region.....the end looks good

it was a nero data disc...so no way t otell if the disc would be ok....

I know I posted this in a thread above but more people are using the U9 and reporting back here..so my apologies but...

I have used Primarily Teon 8x dvd+r(MCC03)/dvd- r (CMC)and TY02 8x dvd+r from Sony

On P9/T9..TY02 @ 12x or 16x burn...no rings QS is generally 12x 97, 16x 92-95
MCC03 @12xalways faint ring on outer 3/4 disc QS is 97
CMC @12x maybe a faint ring..QS 97/99(but this is misleading the PIE are 1-2 million)

On U9 TY02 12x burn no wopc..outer ring QS 97
TY02 @16xburn with wopc ring in the inner 1/3..very noticable..QS 94!
MCC03 @12x again outer ring no matter wopc/on off QS97
CMC @8x wopc off faint ring

What does this dye ring(which have seen referred to as a dye melt) means...will the data be lost..is it really a bad disc

Strange how my TY02 batch 01133 0408 at U9..gets rings but not with P9 or T9

nealh, I also got burn rings when I first flash my drive with U9 a couple weeks ago, tested with MCC004. Twice! So I stopped burning (well mainly because I was busy with work) and just a couple days ago downloaded QSuite and started burning again. As you can see I have no problem using WOPC Disabled. Don't know what happen really. Maybe it was a bad flash and after few reboots during last weeks than it went fine???...

I think eleewhm, Sen and I have more or less agreed that you guys are unbeatable in this thread (no WOPC, sub-5:30) when we met up just now at the local trade show, the two of you simply got great drive samples and better T02 media to boot.

We give up (for now)! lol

Hehe.. not only BenQ B7U9 users can disable WOPC. It also works with Philips 1640P with P3.4 firmware (with some modifications to QSuite).
BTW this is not a fake =)

No, I don't think we have better drive and media. I think it's about "what technique to use to get faster burn".. Maybe pinto2, I and other sub 5:30 freaks use the correct techniques?

oh you three SG guys met? hmmm. maybe we in the US can meet too? or perhaps at least north east area?

tonight's 5:34 no WOPC burn with a new batch of Fuji T02 bought at the trade show just now, this batch seems better than my previous bought a few months ago - burnt 2-3 at 16x, all successfully.

With WOPC, the burn took an unimpressive 5:53 with the following scan.

heheh zevia, SG is pretty small and the trade show is a big event with 500, 000 attendances expected this year. Anyway, Sen is my neighbour within a stone's throw away too.

And now that I have found a batch of T02 worth competing with, bought 2 spindles so here I come again, watch out... lol

So you're ready for a new thread??? What do you want be the title: DARE: 5:30 mins 90%? or 94%? how about 99%?

I might create another thread first... the long waited one...
