This is what I've come to expect from y000t02-00 with BSLB. I keep rooting for another record, and it keeps coming close to going lower than 17 PIF total.

SB/WOPC-on, OS-off @ 8x (8' 06"), 6.84x avg.
Thanks Quema/Crossg; I will burn some TY T02 tonight and will post the results may be I have better luck with T02 as Quema says.

@BK24 Try here--usually a good idea to check out the Blank Media threads, as you'll find all kinds of DVD media tests there, albeit with all different burners.

@TCAS I hope you will, TCAS. y000t02-00 has been very kind to me. Now that it's largely gone, I wish I'd had a lot more $$$ to really stock up on them. Oh well.

This was a disc copy of a backup, using VSO's copy to DVD, burning the image to the HD, then Blindwrite writing the image to DVD. It appears the default settings I had for my 1640 were used judging by the results, so I'll list those.

SB/WOPC-on, OS-off; 8x @ 8' 13" (4.38 gb)

Note: Jitter seems to be higher since I flashed back from BSOB FW. Might have to try that Voodoo flashing.

Well I can hear chas0039, Francksoy and Quema laughing in distance. I have had this Ritek G05 sitting around for a long time since it started to give me trouble 6 or 7 months ago. Decided to see if age would help it. It didn't. Now I have to clean my learned media as it could be contagious. This is not the burners fault, just plain and simple bad media!! IMHO

In my experience, 1620s do a much better job with MAXELL 002 than 1640s, mainly as far as jitter is concerned. MAXELL 002 burned in my 1620 often has jitter averages of under 7%, but MAXELL 002 burned on my 1640 usually has jitter averages of around of 8.5%.

BTW you have a VERY bad batch of G05, as original burns here are very good (see scan). These are Maxell-branded.

The original problems are more at the end of the discs (which explains why I don't burn full discs), and the real issue is the way the errors get in the stratosphere in 3-4 months.

Anyone following my threads I have had poor results burning any media at 8X.... until now. Not sure if it is the BSLB or the RCA video cable I am now using, instead of the SVIDEO option, but any rate here is a scan of VERB -R 8X.( MIT) SB on/on (very first burn of any media) WOPC on, OS off, burn speed 8X

----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Unique Disc Identifier : [DVD-R:MCC 02RG20 ]
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Disc & Book Type : [DVD-R] - [DVD-R]
Manufacturer Name : [Mitsubishi Chemical Corp.]
Manufacturer ID : [MCC 02RG20 ]
Blank Disc Capacity : [2,298,496 Sectors = 4.71 GB (4.38 GiB)]

Nope, crossg, I'm not laughing at another's misfortune of having to deal with RitekG05, especially not after my long testing/retesting/reburning ordeal. I got burned by the same thing. And thanks for the compliment on my scan--I'm just grateful to see all those, because I'm sure I'll not get close to those once I use my stock of Sony 8x DVD+R y000t02. They'll still be good burns, but my PIF total experience with those is 250-750 total.

@TCAS: you got a 51 total PIF with MCC003? I realize that's not a full disk, but that's a wonderful burn. FYI: CD-DVD Speed lowers the QS based on the height of PIF spikes--so if you get one at 4, it'll lower it to a 98; over 4 (like at 5 or 6), you'll likely end up with a 97--even if you have low, even PIF values, < 10% jitter, and ultra low PIF totals like in that scan. That's really a "99" burn.

@Corvette By the way, it seems fairly common to see MCC02RG20 to have a 'mountain' of PIE at the beginning or end of the burn, depending on the disk, batch, whatever... you have no control over whoever manuf's that mid (Prodisc or CMC). However, to get ~300 PIF total on that mid is exceptional. That is really an excellent result. I've never gotten lower than MCC003 PIF total on the 1640 of 748, so you're getting better burns than I have with that media. You have something more to feel good about.

Well everbody is burning DVD`s....but how about CD`s?

First one at 40X with Foorbar2000

CD: SONY CDQ80NG ( 700MG ).

Is this a good write, guys?

I`m very impressed with this unity VS. my Plextor 716, on CD stuff

Another question.

Is the MAX SPEED lock at 32X?

If so how can i unlock it?

Mordorr

I have had hell with these VERBS.... until now, this disk was from the middle of the cake box hopefully the rest will work out. BTW I was thinking the id of this media was Manufacturer Name : [Mitsubishi Chemical Corp.] not CMC or other. thanks for your insight Quema34

If it's MCC02RG20 you won't see any other manufacturer than Mitsubishi, as the manufacturer info depends on the MID... - would they be manufactured in MCC, CMC, MBI or Prodisc plants, all will have "Mitsubishi" as mnufacturer info.

Here is the serial off the disk MAH688JD2600744 2 DAMN VERB selling CMC even though I have no idea where this serial is from, thanks crossg for the link. Where ever they come from I was ready to throw them out, I might still. Why does every one like VERBS if in fact they might have some CMC?

You got it wrong. They're NOT selling CMC. They have CMC manufacture MCC media for them, which is a very different thing.
