| When I open B7U9.exe in 1.0.3.9 (executable size 115173 bytes), it behaves just like 1.0.3.7: it doesn't show the +R media table, and double-clicking on an entry from the -R table doesn't bring up the strategy copy dialog. What am I missing? |

| Sorry, the B7U9 support is only enabled in the Special Edition and missing in the Release Edition. I will fix this when I get home.

| ala42: 1.3.0.9 works with B7U9 now, but doesn't seem to change -R strategies properly. I tried renaming entries and copying entries, but neither method gives me access to the new -R strategies. (+R changes are working fine.) Here's what I tried with -R: renaming IMC JPN to UTJR001001 to allow 8x writing on 4x -R Unifino media, copying TYG02 to TYG01 (and unchecking 16x) to allow 8x/12x writing on 4x -R Taiyo Yuden media, copying TTG02 to TTG01 to allow 8x writing on 4x -R TDK media. After flashing the drive, none of the three media codes is matched with its respective table entry, causing each disc's own 4x descriptor (or maybe the drive's 4x default) to be reported by the drive as the only available speed. The combination of 1.3.0.9 and B7T9 does the above changes properly, so this appears to be a change in the way B7U9 handles the -R table. |
| I know, see post #126. I did the same TYG02->TYG01 swap@12 max as you did, and it did not work. I have not tried renaming yet, but if it also fails, the table could be a fake now. I will check this next weekend.

I have done some many tests and no one is efficient compared to B7T9. Qscan says me that it is not possible to burn over 4X speed (for DVD+R 4X). |
| Pinto2 has had no problem with changing the +R strategies on B7U9, look here.

| Maybe it's due to new accurated WOPC?! B7T9 and B7U9 are not same about the WOPC algorythm... |
| MediaCodeSpeedEdit V 1.0.3.10 adds support for Benq 822/Philips 885 firmwares, special thanks to the alpha tester. I am still looking for someone to test the 1610 B8T9 support. With B7U9 the DVD-R strategy swapping or media code renaming did not have any effect in my test on the write speed with 4x -R media. It worked fine with 8x -R media. Code: Changelog
1.0.3.10 27 Feb 2005
- added Load/Save/Export Media Code buttons to main dialog,
some minor gui changes
- added supported drive list to about box
- added usage for command line options
- enabled Benq 822 B3LC/PHILIPS DVDR885P P1.9 support with
lossless strategy swapping
- added support for LITE-ON DVDRW SOHW-1653S CS0G

| Thank you Ala42!!! This is fantastic work!!! I am however having the same problem with TYG01@TYG02 write strategy. The discs only show up at 4x. Until this is fixed, do you suggest going back to B7T9 firmware? Thanks again!!! |
| The comments about B7U9 are mixed, so there is no problem to stay at B7T9.

| Thanks, I used MCSE on B7T9 and flashed back and the TYG01 discs now show with the TYG02 media strategy. |
| SONY DRU-710A BYX3 seems to be not fully suppoted. I can not find DVD+R:OPTODISC-OR8-000 that detected by all new firmwares as x4 but actually this is not bad x8 media. Scan with CSTJ firmware, modified by this utility (burned at x8) http://kpy4e.no-ip.net/st/opto.png |
| Any plans to support editing writespeeds for cyberhome dx162d-a? I am using the 140f firmware and would be willing to test it. Shoot me a pm if you are interested, ala. Thanks |
| MediaCodeSpeedEdit V 1.0.3.11 is out. It adds support for the Benq 1620 drive labled HP 630c. I have flashed my drive with MCSE patched AH26 and CH16, but have not made any test burns. MCSE displays 4x writespeed for most +R9 medias. I have no dual layer media to check if this is realy true or if my speed guessing does not work for the HP firmwares. Code: Changelog
1.0.3.11 11 Mar 2005
- added support for SONY DVD RW DRU-710A BYX3
- added support for HP 630c AH26/CH16

Thanks for letting me know! |
| DRU-710 BYX3 still not supported OPTODISKOR8 +R media code can not be found in list, but it is present and have incorrect write speed in this firmware. I've already set correct speed for the media using HEX editor. |
| I can find it in the list, at least if it is spelled OPTODISC .
