Dw1655 Ls

Hi, I'm pretty new here.

My old LG GSA4160 stopped working on my external usb2 box so I went to the store and bought a BenQ DW1655. I'm using it at work to watch movies and sometime burn backups. I tried both my original movie and the copy I made (I rarely bring the original at work (thief proof)). The problem is that with both the movie is skipping. It's like if I was pressing Play/Pause/Play/Pause every 2 seconds.

Is this a defective unit or is there anything I can do about this.

What chipset is in the external case, Prolific had a problem with this and released a patch for their firmware to fix this exact problem.

I installed the last firmware available from prolific and still have the same problem :|

I went into the FAQ of Prolific website and did a power off/on of my external unit and it fixed the problem.

Glad you got it sorted.

BTW, when you flash any hardware you should always power cycle it as this then forces the new firmware to load.

If / when you flash your drives firmware you will also need to power cylce the external case again to allow the drive to use the new firmware.
