Do I need to format my computer to use the BenQ 1640? I just bought this burner and when installing burners, do I need to format the computer like with installing videocards to use to obtain optimal performance? Is this just simply plug and play and everything will be alright? Is there any advantage to formatting the computer before using the burner? Thanks!

Re: Do I need to format my computer to use the BenQ 1640? plug and play, no format ![]() Make sure the jumper is set properly on the drive (master, slave, c select). After you install it and reboot, check to see that the drive is in DMA mode (in the device manager). enjoy

Re: Do I need to format my computer to use the BenQ 1640? My, I would hope not!! Plug it in, and burn & scan a few discs. Then, you'll have your answer.
