BenQ EW1621 - Can't read CDs

I have BenQ EW1621 that came in an external enclosure. Since I had a boot error recently, I tried to use it to read the winXP CD and it wouldn't read.

It seems like the drive no longer reads CDs. It can read DVDs and write to them but can't read/write to CDs. Is there anyways to fix this or convert a CD to DVD or DVD to CD?

Hi,

if a drive can't handle CD media at all, then the optical system is (unfixable) defective. You can still use the drive for DVD application only.
