 First of all I would just like to thank the creators for this site b/c it's just dammed amazing how much you guys know! I learned a lot! Anyways, my issue is my ATAPI/BenQ (OEM 1620-G7Z9) DVD DD 2x16x4x16 not being able to detect any blank DVD-R. I have gone through almost all the forums I could possibly read and find on google and this site, tried EVERYTHING and the problem still persists. I've flashed it with 10 different vr of .cvt (using BQFlasher and WinDWFlash), unplugged it, uninstalled the drive, uninstalled the IDE, switched burning programs, switched wires, bought new discs, etc & I'm stumped at what could be wrong!!!  I'm at my wits end with this thing. It reads everything it's suppose to just fine, all movies on CD and DVD (real or fake), things that I've burnt myself previously with the drive. It detects blank CDs (even writes them just fine) just not blank DVDs. And when I pulled the drive out of my computer and plugged it into my other computer running basically the same programs and OS, it works...  I don't understand, it worked fine for about 1.5yrs before this problem occured, I've made no changes.PLEASE PLEASE!!! HELP!!! I'M ABOUT TO THROW THIS BUGGER OUT THE WINDOW!!! | Download a linux Live CD like Knoppix and make soem tests on your drive. It would be really a good idea to boot up from another drive for this tasks, of course....
