| Post new firmware and tool ANNOUNCEMENTS here To make it easier for people who tune into the forum for firmware and tool updates, I think it would be a good idea for people to make a post in this thread to announce new firmwares and new tools. That way, people can just subscribe to this thread and be notified whenever a new LG firmware or tool comes out. The ultimate post would contain: 1. Drive model 2. Firmware version 3. Download link to the new firmware 4. Changelog (Release date and reason) 5. Link to a discussion thread if one already exists To receive notification of any announcements, subscribe to this thread by clicking this link. This thread should be for announcements only. Do not discuss new firmwares in this thread. Posts are subject to deletion without notice if they do not follow this guideline. Ideally, each announcement should have a download link, and, if there is one, a link to that firmware's discussion and results thread. LG Firmware http://au.lgservice.com/

| Re: Post new firmware and tool ANNOUNCEMENTS here Found firmware for LG GSA-H42L. for: LG GSA-H42L 18x Super Multi DVD Rewriter (Internal) Frimware revision #: SL01 DOWNLOAD HERE Release date: 4-05-2007 Related threads: http://club.cdfreaks.com/showthread.php?t=208022 http://club.cdfreaks.com/showthread.php?t=212180 I just bought this burner today. It works fine, but the lack of support for it on the LG website had me a bit irked. I found the above firmware link after searching for a bit. I've applied it & it worked fine (IE: no damage to the burner). Best I can tell, benchmarking with Sandra Lite, it reduced the DVD seek time quite a bit. I'm not as technically proficient as you folks with tweaking & benchmarking drives, so if anyone tries this firmware & can see any other benefits or negative effects, please let everyone know. Otis |

| Re: Post new firmware and tool ANNOUNCEMENTS here You might not believe it, but as already reported here, LG released firmware CL01 for the GSA-H62N. To make downloading the 5 month old firmware dated 07/06/25 easier, it is currently available on the german LG site http://de.lgservice.com only . Navigation is like on the other LG sites, e.g. http://au.lgservice.com.

| Re: Post new firmware and tool ANNOUNCEMENTS here Some additional info about the GSA-H62N CL01 firmware anounced above: The firmware obviously is the test firmware used by the german Chip computer magazine in their GSA-H62N review. Chip removed the drive from their best list on 20th November because the firmware still was not available to customers, caused by lots of discussions of angry buyers the the Chip forum. One day later the firmware was online on the german LG site only. Also the filename GSAH62N_CL01-T0.zip indicates it is a test version, so use it with care.

| Re: Post new firmware and tool ANNOUNCEMENTS here OK, just to be clear the 2 h62 firmwares are just the stock ones with nothing new? I put the CL01 on mine and seems to work though not sure it's way better I have the N version if it makes a difference. |
