MediaCodeSpeedEdit support for LG DVD-Writers

LG Writer Discuss, MediaCodeSpeedEdit support for LG DVD-Writers at CD and DVD Writers forum; That is correct in principle. Verbatim disks do not have OPTODISC media codes. Also 16x media does not really like to be burned at 4x. You should run disk quality test if possible to check the quality. __________________ LiteOn/Benq/LG/NEC/Pioneer/Samsung/Toshiba stuff: MediaCodeSpeedEdit V 1.2.0.5, released November 17th 2009

I will run some tests after I have modified the firmware to determine if it got any better. I seems as if 16x media is most common now, with some discs still being 8x. Maybe it is time to get a new burner.

I will try to get some good 8x media and see if I can get them to work. I have some Fujifilm 8x media left (Yuden) that burns well, but they don't seem to be sold any more. When I opened the firmware with MCSE I saw that the media code was already supported so I guess thats why they burn well. All other 8x media I've tried give bad results.

I just patched the LG -22N to burn the RITEKF1 at 16,8,4,2 using the RITEKM16 write strategy. I'm burning right now. It is a curious thing; my rapidly decaying plextor has no trouble at 16x, I wonder why LG decided to lock this media down to 4x?

To allow a H12N UJ12 -> H12N UL02 crossflash you have to select the GSA-H12N entry from the checkbox in the lower right, even it already displays GSA-H12N, to activate the crossflash.

Both the cdfreaks and my mirror site deliver the correct files. You must have some proxy or file cache inbetween that still delivers old files.

Welcome to cdfreaks
It would help if you tell us which drive you have, which firmware you wanted to patch and what exactly you did.

Is it possible to use MCSE v.1.0.9.7 to crossflash a H12N to an E10N?
I opened firmware v. JE06 for the E10N with MCSE v. 1.0.9.7 and there

was no c/f box in the lower right-hand corner--so I assume it is not

yet possible. Correct or not?

Also during my attempts, to try to flash to the E10N, I got the same DriveUpdater window as BFLM above.

Thanks again, your program has been very handy indeed.

It is. Verify the version number in the MCSE about box. If you really use V 1.0.9.7, reload the firmware from au.lgservice.com and try again.

sorry, I talked about A209 (same with A208) firmware for LG GSA-4082B.I used DVD identifier to identify DVD+R Verbatim media unknown for this FW at 8x speed.Import it to MCSE (swap some 8x, 4x DVD+R media code) according to the guide in first topic here, set and save as A209speedpatched.exe. then run it...
thanks

What happens if you start the original flasher exactly the same way as you started the patched flasher ?

I have the same problem. Burner 4163B, firmware 105 and 106. Same strange screen. But I tried older version of MSCE and it worked perfectly well (only wanted to get rid of riplock

The latest MCSE version changes some bytes of the flasher of older drives, which is a bug. Looks like this bug triggers the maintenance mode of the flasher program.

Since I had the same experience mentioned above (maintenance mode appeared), I tried 1.0.9.6 to remove the riplock of my LG GSA-E10L USB drive. I followed all instructions. Checked 'increase read speed'. Saved and executed the patched flashprogram. I was able to flash without the 'maintenance mode' problem, but still my drive is riplocked. DriveInfo showed the latest update number (LE06), so updating went well.

What could I have done wrong ? Is it because 1.0.9.6 is not officially E10L compatible? Technically the H10L is the same as E10L, so it should work, not ?

Thanks for any advice
Bas

Hi, thanks for your quick response. I am unable to perform the test with video DVD's. I receive the following error: " Error! No additional sense information". I tried several discs.
Below the results of the DVD data test:

And why are you thinking that the drive is still riplocked? When did you notice that?
