This sounds almost illegal to me. Taking an internal disk and sticking it into an external case. No wonder I can't find the model # on the case. Bought 15 of those disks. Man did I get suckered. Thought the technology had been out long enough that these kind of issues would have been resolved. Too bad I did not find this site before I spent the $$. Will give HP a look. Think I need to use your toilet paper ;(. I appreciate the info. Thanks

I ask that because MCSE does not work for me on the 5.22 exe download of this NEWEST 5.05 firmware for this LG 4163B ...

Yes. It's slightly tricky, but it works

Extract SP26777.exe with 7-zip
Extract SP26777.iso with 7-zip
You should then find a folder [BOOT] which contains a "Bootable_1.44M.img"
Either
1. write this file to floppy with Rawrite
2. mount into a virtual floppy drive
3. mount in a virtual machine (MS Virtual PC supports floppy images)
Open the folder "Update" on the floppy and extract FW522.zip" to your HDD.
Finally feed MCSE with W20H5ALA.BIN
