| LG Writer Discuss, LG GSA-H55N Not reading anymore DOUBLE LAYER DISCS at CD and DVD Writers forum; I have bought a pc on Christmas and was installed this DVD on it Untill now everything worked perfectly! But, 3 days now it cannot read Double Layer DVDs anymore!! DVDs that were written on this DVD with Nero 8 The Blanks are ok! it can be seen and burned... |
| I have bought a pc on Christmas and was installed this DVD on it Untill now everything worked perfectly! But, 3 days now it cannot read Double Layer DVDs anymore!! DVDs that were written on this DVD with Nero 8 The Blanks are ok! it can be seen and burned... i TRIED TO UNINSTALL THE DRIVER AND INSTALLED IT AGAIN, BUT, NOTHING! i TRIED TO UPDATE THE FIRMWARE FROM 1.02 TO 1.05 , BUT STILL NOTHING!!! What can i do?? Can anyone help me?? |

| Run the CDSpeed test tool. Create data and verify a blank DL. Run the Transfer Rate test. Check the graphs for normal appearence. Scan disk. If you can't get past the first phase 'Create Data', then I'd say you have a bad drive. It wouldn't be firmware since you flashed 1.05, but it can be a bad eeprom that holds the firmware. What might have happened 3 days ago that could relate to your computer ?? |

| I assume it reads single layer DVDs and CDs. To write DLs but not read them is odd. Can you write using only the first layer and read only the first layer ?? Can you take that disc to another computer at the store or a friends and see if the data has actually been written ?? Or better still put the drive on another computer ? Can you burn a DVD-Video on a DL and play it on a regular DVD player ? If you put a standard commercial CSS compliant DVD Movie in the drive, what happens ?? Most of them are DLs with 7+ gigs on them. |
