I bought this DVD-RAM drive about 2 months ago and it was working perfectly fine until I had to reformat. Ever since I have not been able to get the drive to read any type of disc whatsoever.

I imagine its probably a simple problem as not having the correct driver for it but I have attempted to install several different drivers and none have worked.

Maybe I'm just not doing something correctly when installing the driver, but I am quite new at this and any help would be appreciated.

"any type of disc" means what exactly?

Try with a data disc, run nero cd dvd speed, do disc info.

More info on whats happening...

I put in a legit copy of any game on a CD or DVD and nothing happens, it appears like the drive is attempting to read the disc because when I open My Computer it basically freezes and shows nothing and 2 minutes later My Computer will show the icons it should but instead of showing my LG DVD-RAM drive (with a cd or dvd in it) it shows just a cd-rom drive with nothing in it and when i attempt to open (by clicking on the icon) and see what is in the drive the computer freezes again for another 2 minutes. Then it will ask me to insert a disc.

I did put in a DVD data disc and it opened up the files that were on the disc no problem but when i attempted to copy some files from the disc onto my desktop it froze again and after several seconds it told me there was an error and couldn't copy the files. Also when navigating around in the folders on the data disc it would take several seconds to load each folder when I opened a new one.

The error that occurred when i was trying to copy files from the data disc onto my desktop was an "I/O device error".... if that helps at all.

Then try with the ORIGINAL discs...

Do I just not have the correct drivers? Ive tried a couple different drivers but none have worked... maybe I am not installing them correctly but it seemed like I was. Anyone have any ideas? Or maybe a URL to a 'better' driver?

Uninstall the drivers/drive in devicemanager, then restart.

Is incd, alcohol or daemon tolls installed?

I got the same problem as this guy had with my GSA-H50N.
And yes I have Daemon Tools installed, could that be the problem and if so how do I continue to resolve the problem.

(Sorry for the poor english, it's not my native language)
