I'm beginning to suspect LG just keeps releasing new models which are slightly different from previous ones just so that it looks like they are always ahead technology wise.

2601, did you try daxon008s in H50N ? H20 and H22N supports just 4x into this popular 8x media.

I use a lot of that. I even burn it at 16x in H12N and 165P6S.

Daxon008s is a 8x media. Is it Daxon016s? It can be burned at 16x speed

I use both Daxon008s and Daxon016s. I used MCSE to burn Daxon008s at 16x using TYG03 strategy with good results and in my 165P6S with Codekings hacked 16x MS0R.

Strange enough is that burning Daxon016S@TYG03 is better than native Daxon016S of H12N.

Conclusion: LG Panasonic based drives dont support Daxon008s at all. ( 4164, H20, H22, H50 )

The 1.00 version number and the PIF spikes make this drive look like a NEC.

Seriously, I really frown on LG's policy of releasing a zoo of only slightly different, half-baked drives for political rather than technical reasons.
But we've seen this with LiteOn too (in the CD burning days )...

Good to know, I was already wondering why my H31L can burn this media only at 4x, it's also a Panasonic based drive.
