agent009,

I think these last two posts show very impressive DL burns. I'm glad I added this burner to my stable. What is the difference between the first chart and the second chart in the last two posts?

Yes, and more importantly, it shows that new CMC DL media is every bit as good as Mitsubishi DL media, with the right drive.

In each case, it's two different discs from the same 20- or 25-pack.

Yes I can do that, I have some TYG03.

Just make sure to remind me, I won't get my replacement until next week some time.

The same TYG03's burn and scan good on several other drives here.

When I get chance, I'll switch out the drives on my test PC and scan the same discs with an Optiarc 7170A and a BenQ DW1650. I've got a feeling they will scan fine on those drives. I think there is some sort of an anomaly with the TYG03's when burned on the H22N and scanned on a S182 at 8X.

MegaDETH, when you get your S182D replaced, would you try to duplicate this, if you have any TYG03 media?

Thanks!

Many thanks!

If anyone else has the same combination of drives and media, it would be interesting to see their results, too.

Thanks also to agent009 for the DL scans. Great to know this drive is a very respectable DL burner, too.

Ok, Thanks

Very nice DL burns and some of the best I've ever seen, another sign of the 'CMC is garbage' philosophies being mostly BS.

Well, I was just at my local computer shop and they had the H22N in stock. Just couldn't stop myself and grabbed one. Burned a memorex branded RICOHJPNR03 at 16x and I have to say the burn quality is the best I've seen on this media. I have a pioneer 111D@111L, H10N, Benq1620, and 2 liteon 165P6S and all of them don't burn this media as well as this drive. This is the best burn I've seen on this media to date.

Looks like the drive I got is ultra dma 2 not ultra dma mode 4. I was under the impression that this drive was ultra dma mode 4. Also, there is a speed riplock for dvd video discs and the booktype is automatically set to dvd-rom for +R and +RDL media, however it can be changed to stay at +R. Can someone confirm that this drive is indeed ultra dma mode 2 only and that there is a riplock on dvd video discs. thanks.

CMC is the only optical disc maker in the world that produces more discs than Ritek. So it can't be that all of their billions of discs are garbages at once. It's equally true that at least some Ritek DVD media are acceptable.

Mine is running at UDMA4. LG H22N is the Master on the secondary IDE channel. Slave is a BenQ 1655. UDMA 2 burst test would show 23 to 24 MB/s. Might want to make sure you are using a 80 wire IDE strap.

thanks crossg, i figured it out, all my hardware was good (cable etc.,) but for some reason after i installed the drive it showed as being ultra dma mode 2 in device manager. i just finished uninstalling the secondary ide channel and rebooted and "voila" it did the trick, now my drive shows as being ultra dma mode 4 now if we can only do something about that video dvd riplock. he he

Hi folks,

I´m almost buying one of this things (LG GSA H22N), I liked the posts that I read, thanks. But since my midias now are the poor quality Memorex (Ritek F1) I appreciate someone could answer me if it can write 16x on Ritek F1, since LG 4163B and 4166B doesn´t.

I appreciate some information.

Thanks.

Greetings !

lots of interesting topics here. Kind of new to this world though...

Maybe a noob question, but I have a H22N (black one) and every burning software states a 4X burning speed max... I'm a missing a point here or is there a procedure to "unlock" higher speed ???

Used Roxio 9, nero 7.5.7.0 and blindcopy 6.

Thanks for any infos here...
