AFAIK there is no way of removing the riplock on this drive.

Riplock is a speed restriction placed on the drive by the manufacturer.
Some are as low as x3 > x5. But you could have higher.
If a drive goes upto x12 it is said to have no riplock.
But with speedpatching (with ala42's [ ] MediaCodeSpeedEdit) I have got speeds of upto 16X on pressed DL.

    -Download MediaCodeSpeedEdit here:
    http://ala42.cdfreaks.com/MCSE/

    -Download the firmware dump here:
    http://codeguys.rpc1.org/firmwares/l...0NS10_EL00.exe

-Apply the "Increase Read Speed" patch on the firmware

    -Upgrade the firmware

    Et Voila.

    Hi
    Welcome onboard edgardz.
    Thanks for the info.
Although I have a LG GSA-H62N, I haven't done much with it (use it in stock form).
    Although I do use ala42's ( ) MCSE quite a bit.
    (Mainly with BenQ's & Pioneer).

    Hi
    Not bad at all.
I might try it out on my 62 over the w/e.

i'm currently ripping dl disks in about 11 min's each now better than my nec which would take 19 min's.. and I'm getting good burns at 18 and 20 X on my current no name media where I couldn't get working burns over 12x on my nec.. so far i'm very happy with this burner.

    Hi
    You can patch using MCSE.
    Check your PM's.

    Hi
    Welcome onboard.
I would assume that the LG is not restricted to the same speed as the NEC.
If you want know if your drive is riplocked (or not).
Just do a TransferRateTest using CD/DVCDSpeed.
It will show the minimum/maximum speeds.

If I am not mistaken my LGH42N was a pretty good reader with stock firmware, I think it reads at 12X without any patch. I dont have it installed anymore so I cant check LOL.
