LG Writer Discuss, LG DVD GSA-4166B- Maybe the first LG drive Support LightScribe !!! at CD and DVD Writers forum; I recently bought this drive it has dvd-ram support and LS too I have this BHA dvd-ram driver installed and it works, or at least i'm able to format dvd-ram with the small utility included (FAT32 or UDF) Btw this driver works with NEC4550 too Code:

I recently bought this drive
it has dvd-ram support and LS too

I have this BHA dvd-ram driver installed and it works, or at least i'm able to format dvd-ram with the small utility included (FAT32 or UDF)
Btw this driver works with NEC4550 too

Where did you get this specific driver? Do you have a link?

What operating System do you use, and what Hardware do you use (IDE controller and driver). It does not work with my driver. I only have the newest one and one from 2004

I actually don't remember where i took the driver, but i think i still have the original package.
When I'm back home i can check and upload it somewhere

My sys is an ASUS A8V (via chipset) with XPSP2, using microsoft IDE driver

@TDB : any chance to have an rpc1 fw ?

I have a small fw dl utility but it doesn't work with this drive, maybe a wrong cdb command is issued

Any chance to replace HP dvd840i@GSA-4166B? There are the same models. Where I find orginal firmware to GSA-4166B 1.00? Which software I must use to replace firmwares.

Any ideas?

I have a NEC 2520 at the moment, I'm looking for an update. Is this LG GSA-4166 a good choice ? I almost always use Yuden DVD-/+R discs at 8x.

Good choice for me ?

I own a BenQ 1620 and I've just bought a LG GSA-4166 box at pixmania.fr for 64.90 euros. Time for DVD+RW 8X, DVD-RAM, CD-RW 32X, DVD+R DL 8X and LightScribe fun with a good PI/PIF scanner at your side !
