I am trying to burn DVDs on a new GSA-E10L . Initially the drive was recognized as a DVD-RAM type in My Computer until I tried to burn some data and picture files. Nero refused to burn the files stating I had the wrong media disk. Checking My Computer showed the DVD-Ram had now changed to CD Drive.
I updated firmware, tried again with the same results. After searching this forum, I then uninstalled the driver through Device Manager, rebooted to re-install the driver with same above results.
CD-R, CD-RW will read but commercial DVD's (i.e my daughter's movies) won't.
I don't have any personal DVD's to try.
When I started the project this morning[before having the problem with Nero], a blank DVD would spin in the drive, now it won't.
I have both Fujifilm DVD+RW (4x speed) and Verbatim DVD+R DL (8x speed) that I have been trying to use.
I did read in a post that the DVD laser might be dirty, but I am unsure of how to access this either to check it or to clean.
This unit was purchased a few months ago and is still under warranty, but I am hoping that this problem is still easily corrected.
The data and picture files to be backed up are old family photos and letters.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I'm having the same problem with my GSA-E40L. I've tried it on three different computers with the same result.
