Well, overspeeding media with 2.3x its certified speed generally is not a good idea, even less considering that another strategy is used. LG doesn't have a learning mode like LiteOn, BenQ and Plextor have, so it was not a surprise that two zones were broken.

Ala42 send me test firmwares to see if the higher speeds are available and to evaluate the performance and quality.

I think is not possible flash back to JJ11 firmware when crossflashing H10N@H12N-Can anyone try this ?
My Η10Ν@Η12N is not sensitive in scatch discs reading with current firmware.

Some discs are just not good enough to break the 18x wall. I hope that 16x media and burners will become cheap now.

Oh, and yes, JJ11 cannot be used for downgrade yet, but TDB are currently investigating this. I'm sure our firmware heroes will be able to make another great f/w.

Ok. I get better burns with my 160P6S with Yuden T02 but I´m analizing in a objective way how H10A@H12N performs with the medias ( and speeds ) that I can buy in local market.

I try Yuden T02 at 16x with a firmware from Ala42 = Bad results
I try Yuden T02 at 8x,12x with standard firmware = Good results

These tests show me the medias ( and speed ) that I can use right now without concern about quality.

In other way bad results show me the medias that I could try swap strategy.

ProdiscF02 at 18x using strategy of MCC03RG20 works just fine to me.

Unbranded media 8x +R ( Sony D11 ) burned at 16x with Sony D21 strategy.

Excelent result in 16x.

THX to Ala42 for the new MCSE 1.0.9.0.

Edit. I add the quality scan with SH-W162C for comparison with 160P6S.

Maxell 16x -R ( ProdiscF02 ) burned at 16x with MCC03RG20 strategy.

Looks like this media burns better at 18x than at 16x.

Okay guys.
Time to buy some good media and start up your LG burners.

Got my GSA-H10N today and it's already crossflashed to a H12N. One burn at 16x was enough for me to take this step. Thanks ala42.

Drive/firmware: LG GSA-H10N@H12N /UJ12
MID: MCC-004 Verbatim branded DVD+R (MIT)
Burned with: Nero CD/DVD Speed 4.51.1 as Create Disc
Burned at: 18x
Burn time: 5:17
Booktype: DVD-ROM
Scanned with: BenQ DW1640, (don't have a Litey that can show jitter and I think difference in PI/PO would be minimal anyway).

Max burn speed 18.41 and a burst rate of 43MB/s, gentlemens this drive has great potential.

Woow, that's a nice figure for burst speed.

My drive is connected on secondary slave sharing IDE bus with my aged BenQ DW1620.

My fastest burn ever...5:05.

Drive/firmware: LG GSA-H10N@H12N /UJ12
MID: MCC 03RG20 Verbatim branded DVD-R (MIT)
Burned with: Nero CD/DVD Speed 4.51.1 as Create Disc
Burned at: 18x
Burn time: 5:05
Booktype: DVD-R
Scanned with: BenQ DW1640, (don't have a Litey that can show jitter and I think difference in PI/PO would be minimal anyway).

Huh. Been burning at 5:17 point for over a year and half now with my BenQ DW1620. Thought that was the limit, apparently not.
Time to break 5 minutes point, but for that I probably need better media...
