Hi
True to cdf tradition a fine piece.
Thanks Kipper.
It's interesting though that this model for me is the black sheep & not very good at anything.
Not horrendous either.
Just not quite what I've come to expect of LG.
The non LS version is going very cheap.
SecurDisc is a bit like the Plextor thing of eons ago isn't it?

Thanks Kipper, great review, I just wonder having the LGH42N already and as I do not use Lightscribe is it really worth my time buying this one also.

Having the H42 in hand and if SecurDisc is not of interest or need to you then I would think that you have not need to upgrade your H42.

Great review Kip.

I was hoping for so much more on this drive, I will be keeping my H42N for some time now.

Thanks for the review, Kipper. I've been playing with a 55N for some time now and believe it to be a fine 18X burner on both + and - flavors of 16X Verbatim and Taiyo Yuden media with the new 1.02 FW. 20X, I'm sorry to say, is another story

The two LG drives I have, the H22N and H42N burn them very well.

I also found it to burn fine as long as I burn at the rated speed. The most interesting part of the review for me was the securdisc technology.

Question about lightscribe.

The specs on the drive state 600dpi but a whopping 1600tpi (as opposed to 1070tpi on many other drives). Does this mean the etched image will be sharper that the same burned with other drives? ... or simply how fast the etching process takes place?

Hi~ may I know would the securdisc (password protected?) be read-able with security feature maintained in normal disc reader?

Many thanks,

SC.
