| Hey you guys...i would really appreciate if someone could finally help me on this matter! Everything was fine until i installed nero 7.9.60, after that my dvd-burner HL-DT-ST DVDRRW GWA-4164B, started to act weird...it burned dvd's with slower speed and the data verification always failed! I have read everything there is on forums about this but nothing helped! I uninstalled nero...cleaned everything up...installed the older version which worked, nothing! I checked if dma is on and tried all the tricks to enable it as if it wasn't enabled ...nothing! I tried different media...nothing! I don't know what to do! And i can't format cause i rely on this dvd burner to first make backup of all the important stuff! I'll also post the error log from nero.... I must also add that this happened to my other computer too...there i have a sony burner... Please if someone could help i'd really appreciate it! Thank you! | At first glance it looks like something else is accessing your drive as well as Nero. Uninstall your virtual drive software, and anything like InCD. If you could post a Nero InfoTool output, that would help see what's going on software-wise too. Hopefully others will have more ideas.

| thank you for the reply! I have alcohol installed and it never caused any problems...i recently installed power iso.... maybe i should try to uninstall it and see if that's the problem! | Arachne is right, I bet it is Power .iso or Alcohol, it does cause conflicts with Nero. I have an LG 2166 external and have no problems with Nero, but I do not have any virual drives installed.

| i uninstalled power iso... but it is still not working! And another weird thing is that when i insert a blank cd in the drive...and click on the drive through windows explorer i get this message "D: is not accessible. Incorrect function." |

| I got rid of any virtual drive i had! I also installed the latest nero version without incd...i never had incd installed actually! The problem remains! So long i had firmware 1.03...when this problem came up i got the 1.05....it didn't help either! Something that i should mention is that when the burning starts...the light on the drive is on for a few seconds....then it goes off....and the progress stops for like 10 seconds....and then it goes on again and the drive continues to write! this didn't happen before this problem came up! |

| Hi, there were many drives of that series that died rather early. Is there any opportunity to install the drive in another computer? This would help sorting out any system related issues. Michael |
