Question: anyone knows what chipset in on LG GH22NS40 drive?

just got a GH22NS40 drive since i can't find anymore GH20N.... but just wondering which chipset is this drive running on?

Panasonic or Renesas??

can't seem to find any info on google

Do you already have the Drive? Please look what firmware version it has. If it is like 1.x i think its panasonic, and if it has letters like XY00 i think its Renesas.

You can always burn dvd with cd/dvd speed at 8x (panasonic starts at 4x) or you can insert a dvd-r and see what burn speed you can select (no 12x with -R with renesas).

I wish LG would make it more obvious which drive has which chipset. I have a liking for Renesas LGs, and sometimes even doing a lot of research here on CDF doesn't tell me if the drive I'm eyeing up is Renesas.

If you try to read a Video DVD thats a feature (Riplok). You can get rid of that by patching the firmware with MediaCodeSpeed Edit, but not quiet sure if GH22 NS40 is already supported. You need the firmware and the lastest MCSE.
