DVB-s Card

Well I live in Australia. Will be needing to pick up some Indian Channels. Need to know something. Hauppauge cards, one said it is a DVB-s and to buy another module for decoding paytv channels. I thought you can do this with progdvb(can be mistaken) but do I need to buy the Extra card?

To use a DVB card with an official subscription, you will need a DVB card with CAM support. I had a quick look at the Hauppauge UK website, but there is no mention of CAM support with their latest DVB cards, which means that they only pick up free-to-air channels (and data services such as broadband-via-satellite) with its included software.

ProgDVB does support the use of so-called 'Software CAMs' such as Yankse. However as a Software CAM is an emulation of a hardware CAM, these also require decryption keys to work since there is no physical slot insert a card to. As getting the keys out for a card is much like getting a patch for a game to work without the CD, I will not discuss this any further here.

Once you get hold of a DVB card with CAM support, you will also need to purchase a suitable CAM for your viewing card or upcoming subscription. For example, if your current subscription (or one you may plan on taking) uses the Mediaguard encryption system, you will need an Aston CAM for it to work with the DVB card

does it mean there is no solution for now?

What indian channels exactly? Name and satellite.

Are they transmitted in C or Ku-Band?
