When the Dish Network tech comes to my house, is there any way I can ask him to copy my DVR'ed shows from the 622 to the 722?

You might want to try an external hard drive. There's a fee to activate this feature. I can't say for certain that it will also be compatible with the 722, check with Dish support. But it's the ONLY hope for you.

I have a 722 and a lot of the features are identical.
The only difference is you have more time,stretch feature
turbo charged programming if it's HD.DUAL FEATURE,PICTURE
IN PICTURE etc.. I don't think you can transfer the recorded dvr
content to the new one. However maybe like bro said using
an external hard drive, or record your favorite shows to dvd.
