Hello I'm new to the forum and looking around I see no previous thread about this.
Since dvd -r 4x have gone out of market, I have some troubles in deciding which 8x blank media use on my panasonic dmr e85h (I have never tried to use 16x media because it doesn't sound like a good idea to me, since I already have problems with 8x media).
Up until now the only type that I found working perfectly on my unit are Sony 8x (manufacturer id Sony08d1), Tdk is 50/50 ok (that means that the unit usually accepts them at 2nd or 3rd try, after going on a long Self Check) but in continental Europe Tdk 8x -r are become quite impossible to find, Imation are useless (the unit refuses the disk and goes everytime on selfcheck).
Anyone able to give some suggestions on which brand they have found very friendly with their dmr e85h unit?

Hi, I have 2 DMR E85's, and as i live abroad i buy DVD's in bulk, & I find they vary batch to batch with the same Brands. The first Batch of Bigpockets own brand were brilliant, the second batch has been useless they hang up the machines which then have to be forced into StandBy, and then Manual Eject, or they will not complete Self Check. Another Problem is Discs do not finalise on first attempt. At the moment I find the best Discs I have are DataWrite 4X -R every one OK so far, but i believe they are going to be replaced soon so I bought in bulk, If you want RAM i use Ritek and found 100% OK.
I found my requests to Panasonic were not helped by their replies. And before I found that wrong discs cause big problems I had to return one of my machines back to them to sort out. A duff disc can hang up your machine, so If you get a failed record, Force StandBy (Hold Press on On/Off) And then Eject Disc Press Stop & Channel Up at same time keep pressed untill machine comes to life & Ejects the disc.
When I can get Discs that work, and the machines are working OK i like them. But I am not certain i would buy again, too tempremental. - Posted:

Hi, many people find that Maxell discs work well in their recorders.
You can also still buy 4X and 8X from Maxell's eBay shop; try sending an email to esales@maxell.eu.com and they will help you out.
