We are aware of this problem and we have found a workaround.
The next update of AnyDVD will fix this problem.

Although we know of no other titles, it is possible, that other DVDs have a similar mastering error and that they will work now as well.

the root menu and movie are excellent (on the pc I can play the movie but on standalone dvd player it hangs on this part, any suggestions ?

No, I don't think this is a similar error.
Why do you include this commercial crap in your copy anyway?

Is there a good way to preserve the menus in CloneDVD2 when extracting the "commercial crap" without loosing its function totally, do you have tips for me on this part ?

Click the first button "copy single title". Click check box "preserve menus" in the title selection. The main movie should already be selected. Continue and enyoy!

I have found a second title, which has exactly the same error:
The movie "Magnolia" R2 German, which came with the german magazine "Widescreen" as an add-on. (The "normal" R2 German version has not this problem).
The workaround in AnyDVD 3.6.1.1 works just fine.
Thanks go to Jarod666 for bringing this to my attention.
I wonder, if this is some kind of stupid copy protection scheme, or some buggy mastering software...????

Hey guys, even using the latest version of AnyDVD, I still have this problem when I burn a copy of Once Upon a Time.. I'm using DVD Shrink to compress it though, but doesnt AnyDVD use it's CSS trickery in the background, applying even to DVD Shrink?

After updating AnyDVD, I was able to view the burned movie on my PC, but it wont work on my PS2 or my DVD player at all... :-(

Is it possible to use DVD shrink and burn the movie successfully? If so, do I have to re-author?? Its not that I like the movie in any special way, just that this bugs me, and I dont like the idea of more DVDs having the same feature/bug.

EDIT: I'm using Nero6 to burn it, and using latest DVD Shrink to shrink it.

Try DeCss to decode the Css, then put file into DVD Shrink to shrink files, then burn with whatever burn program you use (I prefer an old version of NeoDVD Standard).

Pleeeeeease... what R2? UK? France? German? Japan?

Spiderman has no protection (apart from CSS) in UK and Germany.
Updating AnyDVD and CloneDVD would be an intelligent move.

Segunitb1,

The updated version of anydvd works fine with every major backup program for dvd's, if clonedvd should fail again when backingup Spiderman 2 (happened to me), try using dvdcloner 2 or use intervideo dvd copy platinum 3 as an extra.

Hope it will help you.
