@ dealmeister,

Suggest obtaining the latest copy of AnyDVD from SlySoft (http://www.slysoft.com). The new version of AnyDVD contains an ‘AnyDVD Ripper’, which handles problems with new copy protection schemes.

Suggest educating yourself concerning the “AnyDVD Ripper” by using the Forum ‘Search” function and conduct a search for “AnyDVD Ripper”.

Also while conducting your search suggest viewing the Forum Rules (http://club.cdfreaks.com/announcemen...uncementid=37). Doubling posting is against the Forum Rules. You have posted this thread in the AnyDVD Forum and also stared another thread in the Copy Movie Forum concerning the same issue.

Best Regards,

used nero (and AnyDvd)- everything seemed fine- made 2 copies.....BUT the copies START on chapter 7??? 1st 6 chaper are missing? 35 mins of the beginning of the movie are NOT there??

tried playing the original DVD on several of my standalone players in the house & there's NO problems- plays fine w/the 1st 6 chapters?!

used windows media player on my laptop & 2 desktops- & it also starts on chapter 7? then rebooted the computers & they played fine from the chapter 1. but when tried using nero again, the movie starts on chap7 again?

tried DVD decrypter & then nero imagedrive method- decrypter craps out 1/2 way through?? even my disney dvd's works this route!!!!

some sort of recognition on this dvd copying - which makes it jump the 1st 6 chapters?

this is really bugging me.....

anyone out there can help?? squid & whale will be released mar 21/06.
Send IFOs to SlySoft support. They will check it out.

and here's how to do it

http://club.cdfreaks.com/showpost.ph...91&postcount=2

1.) DISABLE AnyDVD (little fox on the taskbar should be grey).
2.) Navigate to the VIDEO_TS folder of the DVD.
3.) Copy all files ending with .IFO to your harddisk. ONLY those with .IFO, not the big .VOB files!
4.) ENABLE AnyDVD again (just in case, so you don't forget it)
5.) ZIP the .IFO files to one file. Name it with a cool filename (e.g., Little_Black_Book_UK.zip)
6.) Write a an email to support(at)slysoft.com (replace (at) with @). Name your problem, try to identify the disc (e.g, Little Black Book, R2, UK), the UPC number if possible (below the barcode on the package). The information output of AnyDVD can be helpful as well.
7.) They like if you include the AnyDVD version and your AnyDVD serial number in this mail. You find this information in the Settings Window -> About.
8.) Attach ZIP file with the IFOs and send it.

If you like, you can send this mail to bugs(at)elby.ch as well, so I can have a look at these .IFOs as well.

thanks to other folk for this, you know who you are

Well, I am having difficulties after placing a new Sony DVD in my DVD changer. It started to read the DVD and then the player just stopped loading any disc- DVD, CD, etc. Have you guys heard of this?

Are you having an AnyDVD problem or a stand alone player problem? And, by the way, this thread is over 9 months old.....

A friend of mine backed up a copy of 'Freedom Land' using DVD shrink 3.2 - he then tried the copy in his DVD burner and got a no disk error so he tried it on his home theater system and got the same error.
After this he tried several other disks on each including originals and got the same no disk error for each - seems his hardware has been fried.
Has anyone heard of this before? Is sony/ macrovision doing something new?

We can blame the Movie Indutry all we want but no copy protection can break your hardware. First of all are discs + media , did he bitset them? If the original will not play , try it in another player, if it works then the other player is bad.

He is not a technicaly minded person - but I can assure that all his gear is good quality - one of the players is only a few months old. I will have more info when I get up there tomorrow as I am the technical one. I couldn't see how a copied disc could kill hardware except that stand alone players have to be able to be programmed someway otherwise you couldn't change settiings on the machine.
Just wondered if there was an issue (see post 104 above) that was solved and not posted.
Thanks

Don't know if this been addressed on here or by slysoft but could it be that Sony is reverse engineering the slysoft product as them come out with a new version? Is that why Sony is coming out with a Acros protection schemes? Maybe paranoid but that would constitute software litigations?? This is just my view and opinion.

For sure. SlySoft is one of the major copy-protection removers out there. James has said so himself they have been reverse engineering AnyDVD. Though I do not know how he would know that. Leave it up to the developers to know.

I thought this much Sony would pay attention and download and reverse engineer SS products why cause just like linx05 says they are a thorn in Sony side. Or like james says they are interested in their software product. LOL

Sorry for the delay - ISP problems last night.
The equipment wouldn't recognise disks at all and it seemed to have been caused by the copy - I got it all going rather easily though by simply unplugging the players for long enough to let them lose any stored settings, reverting back to factory default.
This seems to be in line with Macromedia's blurb (and I assume other similar companies) that by causing frustration on the part of users trying to copy media they will steer a percentage away from copying toward purchasing the originals. What about the people who want to keep their originals in pristine condition though?

Well to keep pristine condition is to keep it in the case and never used it that the best way to keep it from damage. I don't get what you referring about Macromedia? Well if you think you have spyware or malware or rootkit installed I would recommend you find a good program to find and kill those programs.

Chances are the dvd media was improperly burned/finalized and unreadable. This may have thrown the burner and players involved into an extended loop of trying to recognize and read the disc. But as others have said, we are not aware of anything anyone can do to cause the attempt to play a backup copy of a dvd to cause damage to a drive or player.
You mention a "Macromedia" blurb - I'm going to guess you meant "Macrovision" as they are the company who tries to prevent copying of purchased media by inserting flaws and defects in commercially pressed entertainment products. It seems to me that what they mostly cause is defective and flawed products being sold to unsuspecting customers.
Lastly, I doubt that the entertainment industry has any interest in helping anyone keep their purchased optical entertainment products in pristine condition. They would prefer you throw them around a bit and buy additional copies of the same material now and then once they are damaged. Actually, they would probably like it even better if you had to pay them every time you watched your dvd, even after you purchased it.

I think you you are right
a bad burn/media etc can lock-up a player
but after ejecting the disk or power off/on
the lockup has never persisted in my experinence

I agree. Since the system returned to operating status after shut-down/restart, it seemed like a plausible theory to me - and I couldn't think of anything else . . .
