This means Sony will come out with the better encryption now to kill off ripit. I enjoyed the program myself but thanks to all the freeware guru's to spread it out and spread it out fast as this is the end result. To merely mention from time to time is one thing but the freeware users got this software hot. I loved it but glad it died. As for anydvd I have yet to come across a movie that can't be copied using that.

SIGH...You would know that there are solutions to this problem if you'd read the forum. You want to rip the latest Sony titles with AnyDVD? Don't want to pony up the cash for CloneDVD? Want to use Shrink for compression? If yes, listen up...

-Download the latest beta of VobBlanker

-Make sure the latest AnyDVD (6.1.3.3 at the time of this writing) is installed.

-Insert Sony title and let AnyDVD scan it

-Open VobBlanker and select the video_ts.ifo from the DVD as the input, and select a folder on your hard drive as the output.

-[OPTIONAL STEP] Blank, not skip, any titlesets you don't want to keep to save some space for DVD Shrink.

-Hit the Process!! button and let the DVD get ripped to your hard drive.

-[OPTIONAL STEP] For the super paranoid, run FixVTS on the files created on the hard drive. This is NOT necessary as VobBlanker has always created compliant files for me.

-Open DVD Shrink and open the files you just put on the hard drive with VobBlanker. Compress to your liking

-Burn with favorite burning app

-Grab popcorn, beer, etc, and enjoy protection free backup!

MBK gets credit for this method of backup. He rocks.

You're quite welcome. You'll find this method works very well even on the latest Sony ridiculousness. Also, the extra benefit is that if you blank titlesets during the process, you can often save a considerable amount of room on the disc which then requires less compression on your movie.

hi there I have a benq dw1655 with latest firmware. For some reason since upgrading to anydvd 6165 it conflicts with my ide. On the ide chain I have the dvd burner and a hard drive now I see neither in my computer and just has an asteric in device manager. Never had this issue before. I use vista ultimate mother board is asus p5wd2. Anydvd cant see the drive either. It says so when it opens at startup.. One thing I do have is easy media creator, but I have never had a conflict with upgrading from any other version than this one. I have no there conflicting software listed on slysoft's site. When I 1st installed it and rebooted to enter my reg # it ran perfectly I used for about 2 days no problems then I started to notice accessing the hard drive on that same Ide chain was extremely slow. So I rebooted hoping it was something just open in the background. I can't access my dvd drive since. But if I run system restore to before upgrade there is no issue. I have duplicated this problem 3 times. BTW I have the drivers on my ide channel were installed with windows
Thanks Guys

I would greatly appreciate some quick help to the following dilemma. I don't want anyone to go out of their way and post any more info than is necessary to solve this problem. Thanks for the anticipated reply.
Here's the deal: I have ANYDVD. I insert one of my favorite TV series into the disc tray and the only other program DVD program that I have (which is Toshiba Disc Creator - the equivalent of Roxio's product) splits the contents into the AUDIO and VIDEO folders.
Toshiba Disc Creator tells me, "Files or folders on the DVD disc cannot be written directly. If you want to write them to another disc, please copy them to the HDD first."
So, for each series, I copy the contents of the VIDEO_TS to folders on my desktop. Now What?
2 of the 3 folders that I have (one for each series) has 20 items and the other one has 59 items in it. Each folder represents the contents of one entire disc.
Obviously this entire folder is not going to fit onto one copy disc. How do I know what files are necessary to go onto each new disc? The copy discs are only 120 minutes long. Will the disc creator tell me to break the project up into several discs? Doubt that. What do I do at this point?

Do I need CloneDVD or can I get by with what I have?

ALRIGHTY, I loaded one of my VIDEO_TS files into clonedvd2 and it shows a preview screen. On the right are all the contents of that folder in order of 'size of playtime'. How do I make a copy? there's no instructions. and my biggest question is how do you fit an entire TV series onto a 120 minute disc? You don't obviously, right? And how does the program get things in order, like intros and such? Can I get rid of all the intros and other sequences and just split the episodes between two copy discs??? How do I make a EXACT replication?

Pleas enlighten my non-computer savvy brain!!

Hi GreenTNHoney and Welcome to CDF's,

If you notice in CloneDVD2 there is a "Help" in the upper right.

Also you can right click to get tips most anywhere on both programs (AnyDVD and CloneDVD2) if i remember correctly. They are very informational. I believe you get a prompt for this when first opening AnyDVD.

By the way i'm in Missouri and i take it your in Tennessee?

I GOT MYSELF THROUGH THE SET UP and to the last page, it says, "creating dvd files" and it looks like some kind of EKG read out on the top right of the window. After that's finished, will it be ready to write to a DVD-R?

What led you to believe that I'm in Tennessee?

As long as you set it for DVD-5 it should be.
