Well, Very roughly said, 64-bit windows is windows compliled with 64-bit compiler, which makes 64-bit code. As there are 64-bit CPUs (and motherboards, of course, to put 64-bit cpu to), to run full speed they need 64-bit programmed programs. Altough they can run 32-bit programs too (including windows 32-bit), but it is "32-bit less efficient" in manner of speaking.

There is no immediate need to upgrade working programs, altough they do have fixed some bugs in them too. I personally always use newest, but it's just me, allways the newest

Changelog snippet from virtual CloneDrive AND beginning of this thread:

Virtual CloneDrive 5.1.0.0: 2005 04 12
- New: Refuses to install on 64 bit Windows

That is because it is not compatible with 64-bit windows as it need to to be completely rewritten to work in 64-bit windows, which is also said in this very thread...

You know, search is power, or even reading the thread before asking already answered question in same thread... Besides what do you mean with SHARE forder and some suspicious files on that folder you have there?

NERO 6.0.0.12 came out today, maybe the nerocheck will be fixed now for us 64bit users and we might not get the error message, has anyone tried it yet?

No, but the release versions of CloneCD/ CloneDVD/AnyDVD will have a workaround for the Nero problem. You shouldn't have to care much.

Is this on Windows 64? If yes, the same Workaround applies like with NeroCheck.exe (read this thread).
I'm running the regular 32 bit version of WinXP SP2.

I first tried the beta CloneDVD 2.8.0.0. After getting the above error, I immediately uninstalled NERO and still had the problem. I then tried the commercially available version of CloneDVD and still got the error.

After searching high and low on the internet and not finding anything that helped, I decided to remove both CloneCD and CloneDVD, then reinstalled CloneDVD. That did the trick. I got home late tonight and don't feel like fooling with things, so I'll reinstall CloneCD tomorrow and see if the problem pops up again.

I had a problem that after the installation from CloneCD 5.2.0.0. No CD-R Media was found from Nero Disk-Info or the RealPlayer CD-Burning Engine.

After your solution it works very well...

Edit:
Now it don't works again.

After deinstallation from Version 5.2.0.0 and reinstalling Version 5.1.0.0 it works...

I'm using WindowsXP Pro SP2 32bit

Which version of CloneCD were you using (which issued the "ElbyCheck" warning)?

Dear Olli and Elaborate Bytes AG:
Maybe you can consider to development "MakeDisc"
I am really tired about Nero(only personal point)
I am still looking a software to replace Nero...

I am having the same problem. Have an Athlon 64, but running 32 bit windows XP SP2. The writing slows way down. Have posted on another thread, but haven't heard anything, sorry about repeating.

Ollie,

When I right clicked a dvd drive I used to get an option in the windows explorer context menu to eject or close the tray, but just recently I noticed there is no 'close' option even when the tray is open, only eject. Is this 'close' tray feature anything to do with Slysoft software? I'm not sure what I may have done to make it go missing from the context menu.

A close option in explorer? Fascinating. Something else you installed must have put it there because by default Windows does not have such an animal. AnyDVD most certainly didn't put it there afaik.

Yes, "Close Tray" is part of Elaborate Bytes' Virtual CloneDrive. An extremely cool and helpful feature.

Are you using any 3rd party IDE drivers? (Assuming your drive is internal).

Just installed CloneCD 5.2.1.1 on Windows XP X64 and my drives, CD-ROM and CD-RW are not being recognized

Could this be a problem with me having Nero installed also, or maybe something else

Edit: Nevermind, fixed my problem. I installed CloneCD by itself and it wouldn't work, but after I installed AnyDVD and CloneDVD, everything was recognized in CloneCD, maybe CloneCD is missing a file?
