So does this mean we will no longer need AnyDVD to disable copy protect scheme in the new HD-DVD and Blu-ray Movies? Will this mean that SlySoft will be forced to reduce the selling price of AnyDVD?

Well, its a workaround on a certain brand of laptop with oem version of WinDVD installed and you have to do a frame by frame "printscreen" of every single frame and reassemble them all. Not a very "neat" workaround.

AnyDVD (currently?) does not remove copy protection from neither HD-DVD or Blue-Ray, but from DVDs (and Audio-CDs). Why should they reduce the price?

plus the minute this capture screen trick was uncovered, I'm sure measures were taken to fix this on subsequent production runs.

and i agree with Tru. anydvd is still the sam eproduct offering us the same service they always have...why shouldn't it be the same price? I'm confused why you think they might have to lwoer prices?

IF AD can eventually take on HD disks, SS should raise the price of AD, and charge for updates too

I ish not to pay for updates. I would rather buy 2 of everything then. Raise the price is that really a good ideal for the marketing team?

hi, dear people...

--> http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?t=113400

--> http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?t=89243

Anydvd will be able to handle about BluRay / DRM 'ed / HD-DVD files and discs in some near future?

I know that some of these formats are quite new, but soon, many people really wanna to make some back ups for your own private discs and they'll need to have some tools that can handle that protections too.

Thanks

Not saying they won't in the future but currently they do nothing to remove DRM at this moment.

Ok, I see, but is technically possible?

And about Bluray and HD-DVD, which will use stronger encryption methods, Anydvd will be able to handle those too?

Do you know if Anydvd's author just give a try to study some ot that protections/tecknologies, maybe for future new features added in Anydvd's new releases?

Thanks.

I remember Slysoft saying they were not going to invest in updateing on the blue ray or HD DVD until the format war was over. This however could change it is slysofts call. If you email support as it may seem that you want to backup your movies in these formats they may be able to help you further.

Backing up bluray sounds like a great idea, but think about how expensive it would be to even use backups. cheapest blu ray player out there = ps3 = $600 (if you can find it). bluray burner, do they even have them yet? if they do, i'm assuming they are at least $1-2k for one. Blank bluray discs, assuming again that they are 15-20 for them IF they even exist. So just to copy a single disc, you're looking at at least $1-2k investment. Media, if they as low as 15 for a single layer bluray disc, and bluray movies are $20-$30, say 25, you'd save $10 per movie backed up. You'd have to back up at least 100 bluray movies to break even on your investment. Keep in mind there are roughly only 100-150 bluray movies available at retail now (blockbuster isn't renting them up in lowell ma yet, so good luck finding them without buying them).

maybe i'm missing something, and obviously my numbers are almost all guesses (please don't rip me apart on those, i'm admitting my ignorance, no need to point out the obvious), but it doesnt seem like that great of an investment for the consumer to try backing up bluray movies, and looking at those numbers, would enough people invest in anybluray for it to be worth developing?

and the worst thing about it all, is anybluray doesnt have the same ring to it as anydvd :-/

Prices will go down just as they did with the DVD Player/burners/discs.

The first step would be copying them to harddisk / removing AACS, so you can watch them without a new graphiccard and HDCP monitor, convert them to DVD or copy them to your mobile device.
