Hello everyone,

I am seriously considering purchasing AnyDVD HD, and I am curious what SlySoft's license policies are. I am concerned that I will have to buy a new license of AnyDVD HD if I get a new computer, or if I reinstall my OS. I have read the licensing portion of their policy, but I am still unclear what it means. Here it is:
Quote:
SOFTWARE LICENSE

The Software is protected by intellectual property laws and treaties. The Software is licensed, not sold.

1. This EULA grants you the following rights:
* Systems Software - . You may install and use one copy of the SOFTWARE PRODUCT on a single computer or if you licensed it for multiple computers on as many computers as you legally obtained a license for, including a workstation, terminal or other digital electronic device ('COMPUTER').
* Storage/Network Use - You may also store or install a copy of the SOFTWARE PRODUCT on a storage device, such as a network server, used only to install or run the SOFTWARE PRODUCT on your other COMPUTERS over an internal network; however, you must acquire and dedicate a license for each separate COMPUTER on or from which the SOFTWARE PRODUCT is installed, used, accessed, displayed or run. A license for the SOFTWARE PRODUCT may only be shared or used concurrently on as many different COMPUTERS as the license is valid for.
Restrictions:
* You may not sell, license or distribute copies of the Software on a stand-alone basis or as part of any collection, product or service where the primary value of the product or service are the Software.
* You may not use or distribute any of the Software that include representations of identifiable individuals, governments, logos, initials, emblems, trademarks, or entities for any commercial purposes or to express or imply any endorsement or association with any product, service, entity, or activity.
* You must indemnify, hold harmless, and defend SlySoft Ltd. and Universal Gaming Concepts Billing and Customer Service Inc. from and against any claims or lawsuits, including attorneys' fees, that arise from or result from the use or distribution of Software as modified by You.
* SlySoft Ltd. respects the rights of artists and film companies, and the proper use of the software does not violate those rights. You cannot copy DVDs in order to sell or give away copies, or for any commercial purpose.
* SlySoft Ltd. discourages any attempt to copy rented DVDs. It is illegal to make a copy of a DVD for most purposes other than your own personal use. SlySoft Ltd. respects the rights of artists and film companies, and asks that You do the same.
* Using the SOFTWARE will create backup copies of DVDs. The copy will be an archival backup copy of a DVD, created solely for the private and personal use of the owner of the DVD from which it was made. Federal copyright laws prohibit the unauthorized reproduction, distribution, or exhibition of copyrighted materials, if any, contained in the archival backup copy. The resale, reproduction, distribution, or commercial exploitation of the archival backup copy is strictly forbidden. We ask you to respect the rights of copyright holders.
If anyone could shed some light on this topic, it would be great! Thanks.

Slysoft license is not attach to computer. You can use single license on multiple machine. But make sure only one copy is active at a time. Slysoft recently became subscription based model. Means you can buy 1 to 4 years license. Also you have option to buy lifetime license which doesn't expire.

You can move license from pc to another pc as well. For example when you upgrade pc.

More Detail can be found slysoft forum.

If you interested in blu-ray playback or copy you may look into Anydvd HD which include function of both program in one package.

If you question feel free to post.

While at it I want to remind Slysoft is having sale until Sunday, April 19 2009 offering 20% discount on all products – except upgrades and t-shirts.

You can at any one time with a single license have it on one computer if you want it on more computer you will just have to buy more license for each computer but as stated by 012 you should just contact slysoft. But as to if you reinstall your OS you can install Anydvd back on it as long as you said your registration but incase you loose it just contact slysoft and they will help you there. Also their site is now gives you different options if you checked lately so you should contact them and get the info from them.

Ok thanks for the info, but I think my wording was off. I am referring to a situation where I get a new computer to replace the one with AnyDVD HD on it, and I want to transfer that same license to the new computer. I think my question was answered above, but does anyone else have any info?

Thanks!

I had no problem transferring AnyDVD from my old computer to my new one. I left it on my old computer and it still works, I get update notices on the old machine and AnyDVD functions perfect.
