| Hello, I had jsut gotten my laptop back from the ASUS, the evil manufacters who held my computer ransom for four months ![]() Everything seemed perfectly fine on, it had gone through some repairs, the motherboard was dead and they placed in a new one along some other things. My hard drive remained intact though and my optical drive was the same (TSST corp CD/DVDW TS-L532U). By the way, I'm ot sure this is technically an ASUS optical drive but ASUS built my computer and I couldn't find a more appropriate board. What the problem with my drive is that when it came back, all the sudden it's had major problems reading ANY CD. I will put in a CD and it will attempt to read it, though it only tries for a few short seconds, like 2 or 3 and then stops. Afterwards it treats the CD as if it doens't exist, literally like there is nothing in there. Not that it is blank, but completly non-existant. It doesn't make strange sounds and try to read for a long time as if it were reading a scratched or corrupt CD, it jsut gives a shrot attempt and then stops. However, it does know that there is a CD in the drive reguardless of the way that it treats it because there is a little green light with my drie that turns on when a CD is in place and shuts off when I take a CD out and the tray is empty...so obviously it knowns somehting is there, yet it acts as if nothing is there. This is the first time somehting like this has every happened to me and I'm not sure what to do about it. If anybody ahs any tips or suggestions, or knows what to do about it, I would greatly appreciate your advice, thanks. |

| @ Shadow Wolf, Welcome to the From. Your TSST Corp TS-L532U DVD Burner is Toshiba Samsung Storage Technology (TSST) manufactured drive. In seeing that you recently received your Laptop back from Asus from repairs it would be prudent to immediately contact Asus and inform then that your TSST Corp CD/DVDW TS-L532U drive in not functioning correctly. Most assuredly Asus has some type of warranty for the repair work that they just performed. Regards, bjkg |
