Pioneer Official Download Site

A popular firmware resource and discussion site is The Firmware Page.

And don't forget The Dangerous Brothers , who mod a variety of FW for various drives.

As a matter of netiquite, please do not post direct links to files that you do not own. Only links to web sites are allowed, unless you own the file and are hosting it yourself.

As it seems that some folks are in need of constant reminders, this is where we tell you that flashing any firmware to your drive has certain inherant risks. Flashing any modded or unsupported firmware to your drive will void your warranty.

When you choose to flash an unsupported firmware to your drive, you are choosing to give up any right to return or RMA the drive, you are giving up any right to whine about the outcome of the flash, and you are agreeing to accept any negative outcome that may occur.

Be a grown-up and don't blame CDFreaks, the author of the firmware or the maker of your drive if you ruin your drive. Don't try to use a firmware mod to correct faulty hardware, return the drive for replacement instead.

I just received my dvr-107 and was wondering if I change to the hacked firmware could I at a later time revert back to the official firmware. If so how can the drive manufacturer tell if the hacked version was ever on it.

Thanks.

Is mine too old? It's a Pioneer DVD-RW DVR-105?
MY CRW is also a Pioneer (Although they both came in Cheyenne boxes) brand new.
It's a CRW-5224A.

I believe the Pioneer page on rpc1 should be mentioned specifically.
So here it is: http://pioneerdvd.rpc1.org/
And of course the firmware patcher >NIL: definitely deserves applause for his hacked Pioneer firmwares.
You can find >NIL:s' 1.16 patched Pioneer 107 firmware HERE.

Hi,
It would be great for us Mac users if y'all could also add a link to the page for this Mac firmware flasher:
http://www.macetvideo.com/flashpione...ioneerosx.html
and maybe also this page, since it explains it in english:
http://eshop.macsales.com/Reviews/Fr...neerflash.html
I haven't seen these on The Firmware Page (but I might have missed them...)
Thanks!

If you're talking about The The Firmware Page (rpc1.org) then take a look at the sticky threads in the Macintosh Specific Section

Yes, you can. I did it with DVR flash and went back from a hacked firmware to pioneer's own.

Mind you the drive died a week later could be coincidence, I suppose. however, a shiny new one arrived yesterday under warranty.

I have an A05 and a Toshiba DVD Recorder which writes to DVD-Ram as well as -R/RW.

I am aware that the 107 can read DVD-Ram discs which the A05 cannot.

Is is possible to mod the A05 to enable it to read DVD-Ram discs?

I think it is not possible. DVD-RAM disks use a superior error correction than other DVD disks. You would have to patch the error correction handling almost completely. Also I think it has a different write strategy...

I've been using the Gradius firmware with my 107xl, and I'm extremely happy with it.

I have tried various DVRflash firmwares, and they work to update my Pioneer DVR-106D up to firmware v1.08. However, I still cannot write DVD-Rs from my Mac with OSX 10.3.8.

Be Warned.

I have gotten the DVR-106 working; after the v1.08 and 10.3.8 OSX updates, the old media I was using successfully, now NO longer works. I have found that a brand, Ritek, does work now.

http://forum.rpc1.org/portal.php
http://tdb.rpc1.org/index.htm
http://dhc014.rpc1.org/
so if you are not able to connect to these sites use a proxy it seems to solve the problem

I cannot believe the drive has been out for this long and Pionner or an independent coder could not release a firmware that allows, at the very least, Ritek 4x @ 8x.

What was all this I read about this being the best burner on the market? Did it vanish?

Oops. The blocking's actually happening on rpc1.org's side of things. This should be fixed now.

Most manufacturers don't officially support overspeeding, so it's not just Pioneer.

As for someone hacking the firmware to allow it, are you volunteering?

The CRW-5224A is not from Pioneer, it's from ASUS (I have it... or maybe they have same model numbers?) Anyhoo the CRW-5224A is failing on me (reads once in 10 times... always burn with very high error rates).

It's also not a DVD reader or burner. The CRW-5224A is a CD-R/RW burner only.

Hi --

I just bought a Pioneer DVR-K15 to install in a Toshiba Satellite. However, the notebook won't recognize the drive, as the drive must be set to master, not C-SEL, to work in that particular computer.

Can any utility like DVR-Flash modify the Pioneer drive to the master setting? If so, can anyone describe process?

Thank you.

PS There are Toshiba SD-R6472 drives available that have been modded as described above, but K15 is a superior drive.
