    Hello.

    My old Pioneer DVR-215DBK gets stuck in some kind of loop or restart after being powered up for a while. It's like it power cycles or something. I have checked the power cable and I noticed it was connected to a pretty long sata cable so I bought a new 50cm cable with a clip. It didn't make any difference.

    All I can think of is that I have left the power button on the PSU switched off for quite a while. Maybe that wasn't such a smart idea but the rest of the computer and the other burner works fine.

    The problem is right now that the burner can't even read discs properly. It will read from a Windows 7 install disc after bios but before reaching the install screen it kind off loops and finally it gives me a blue screen.

    According to IMGBurn the firmware is 1.22. The drive has gone through a lot of burnings in the past but nowadays It's barely being used because I have a new computer.

    I have a custom Core i5 computer.

    Thank you for your tip. I had almost totally forgotten about cleaning the lens. I have now opened the drive, cleaned the lens and the wheel rubber with alcohol but it didn't help. The wheel where the disc snaps onto inside the drive was rather dirty. I'm at a loss here.

    The drive has read a lot of discs from what I remember not burnt. It was a similar computer with the same drive model that had done the opposite; read few discs and burnt a lot but that one seems to work fine.
