No one seems to have bought another of these drives?
Anyway, here is a scan from mine.
Verbatim 2.4x DVD+R DL (MKM 001) burned at 8x

BenQ CD-R (Daxon) burned at 40x. Look at that lovely jitter

Speed demon test! Verbatim 16x DVD+R (MCC 004) burned at 20x in just 4:44
Satisfactory result, too. -

Now for a slower MCC 004 burn. Verbatim 16x DVD+R burned at 12x (4410 MB in 5:59). Very nice, and the two 5PIF spikes do not faze me

Verbatim 16x DVD-R (MCC 03RG20) burned at 16x (4464 MB in 5:48).
I have never had brilliant scans with Verb's -R discs
and this is a typical result. Lovely jitter, blah about the ever-increasing PIF. Reads fine, though.
The screencap is cropped because the CD-DVD Speed program window was on the left of my screen, and the missing portion was outside it

In the interests of science and furthering knowledge
I have burned another MCC 03RG20, but at 12x in just 6:10. This is the best burn out of this spindle yet!
So much for burning discs at their rated speed. Now I shall try another at 8x. -

Here's the 8x burn, done in 7:59. Unlike the 12x burn [which levelled off at 12.5x], this settled at a true 8x. Easily the best result so far — look at that jitter!
Having said that, 12x is already good enough, and I'll stick with it for the rest of this spindle.
P.S.: Yeah, my CPU is all over the place. Windows reinstall time has come. -

I hope it gets there soon. Very happy with this drive.
My pleasure, Brad
Give the folks at Pioneer my best wishes for a great year ahead — the same to you, too

Now here's another Verbatim 16x DVD-R, burned at 16x in 5:42.
Unlike the previous scans [Prodisc, 50-disc spindle], this one came in a jewel box and is made by CMC. Also, it was purchased nine months before the Prodisc spindle.
My hopes were high until it hit the 3 GB mark
Oh, well. At least the jitter is consistently low. -

Imation ForceField 8x DVD-R (FUJIFILM03) burned at 8x in 8:13, with some weirdness regarding the fluctuating burn speed.
Not bad

Sorry mate, I couldn't tell you as I am based in Australia - we've had them for ~2 months now?
I think its just a question of how long the distribution chain is, luckily here its us -> Disti -> Dealer.
In the US you'd have multiple layers of distis and everyone has to sell out their stock before you will see the new stuff....__________________
