Wow, you already have this drive?

Any news on when exactly it is shipping? Primarily the DVR-216?

Sorry, I don't know. The DVR-116 has released in China for a few days and DVR-216 still not available.

I wonder if this is due to them using the same chipset? Does anyone know exactly which chipset is used in the new DVR-116 series? It isn't the same used in the 112/115 is it?

The DVR-116 uses MC-10043 chipset(same as Optiarc AD-7200A/7203A) and the 112/115 use MC-10041 chipset.

@2601 - This drive definitely looks like a keeper. Do you happen to have a double layer DVD that you wouldn't mind wasting?

IIRC it's the same as the 115, except for 12x double layer burning instead of 10x.

Does this drive can do quality scanning as the 7200's? They are using the same chipset so I guess that it can.

I think the drive will still have commands for scanning discs, but I guess the results will still be as unreliable as they were on previous drives.
