My 112D is using Primera firmware; I'm not sure if MCSE works with that. I tried the RICOHJPN D01 burns simply to see how the 112D handled them. I do have some real FTI R08s that I'm beginning to work my way through on several drives. I'll be trying them on this drive soon. I've also recently discovered that my SH-222BB burns the RICOHJPN D01s quite well with stock firmware at 4x.Quote:Does MCSE strat-swapping work with your 112 firmwares? I just got my hands on a brand spankin new January 2012 FTI R08 drive compatibility chart. Clip below. Lists the 112 as 8x compatible. Wondering if your 112 could manage 8x burning them as FTI R08? Realize the trouble might be due to mileage on your burner or any number of things, but just wonderin'
. I'm stuck with a 111D that can't manage a decent DL burn to save it's life. Or, more accurately, I was stuck a long time ago
.
Sorry your 111D doesn't do well with DL burns. Mine burns MKM 003s extremely well, although it's finicky with other DL MIDs (I haven't tried FTI R08s on it yet).

Thank you. I'll watch for them. I've not learned yet how many of the drives have a unique new FTI R08 strategy and how many might be using the RICOH strat for the FTI's with little or no change.Quote:My 112D is using Primera firmware; I'm not sure if MCSE works with that. Just looked at your 222 DL scans. Yikes! Looks almost as uneven a DL performer as my worst-ever SH-S202G/BEBE.__________________

Agreed.Quote:Just looked at your 222 DL scans. Yikes! Looks almost as uneven a DL performer as my worst-ever SH-S202G/BEBE.
But fortunately it burns them decently at slow speeds. This replaced a Sammy 20x drive of mine that was mis-behavin' and is now doing time in the closet.

"You just sit there and think about what you did!"
I have a closet of shame, too

Dear Jadburner,
You have a buffer issue or a disc access issue. This is what limits your writing speed. I didn't follow a possible discussion you had about it, so sorry if this post sounds lame.
Have you already tried increasing the writing cache size for CDSpeed? It could probably solve this issue. It has for me in a number of occasions, specially with Pioneer burners which seem to be more picky about data transfer, go figure why (I stopped trying to find the reason a long time ago
).
To increase the writing cache of CD/DVDSpeed you need to go to Regedit:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\ahead\Nero Toolkit\CD Speed\Transfer RateBuffer Size (DWORD)
The number is the buffer size in 64K blocks. So for example a value of 160 results in a buffer size of 10 MB (160 x 64KB)
(Thanks to Scoobiedoobie which originally brought this hack to my attention).
Try increasing the cache up to 250MB and see if it helps. If it doesn't, investigate your hard drive access.__________________

Older Pioneer burners still handle the newer TY stuff fine when overspeeding.
