Pioneer DVR-111D/111/A11XL Scans Thread

Asus / Pioneer Writer Discuss, Pioneer DVR-111D/111/A11XL Scans Thread at CD and DVD Writers forum; Thanks Greg for the infos. I start to think about replenishing and am tempted by the 25-packs of DL Verbatim. The difference is some 25 euros as compared with the jewel cases for the same quantity. Still wondering what the trade-off could be. As to 12X burns, mine are done

As to 12X burns, mine are done in about 6mn 30 on a full MCC 004. I did not attempt to burn T02 at this speed yet. When I do, I'll use the burn test in CD Speed to see how the 12X strategy is made of .

I just ordered one of these from NEWEGG for $36.99 shipped to replace my NEC 3500a. My 3500a does not like to be in my Plumax Prolific chipset external enclosure. Doesn't perform like it did in my desktop. Looking through this page the pioneer looks great. I hope it works for me.

Anyone have this drive in a similar enclosure?

The trade off is that instead of a steady PIE's you get a jump at the second layer. I've had jewel case 2.4x verbs that didnt do this,(a five pack), but other than that there isnt a trade off. You are paying 1 lot of shipping and as a bonus getting media that is printable. I mean when i look at it as saving shipping, im saving about 10 pounds when compared to buying 5 five packs or two ten packs and a five pack.

I saw Sapa's post with 6x Verbatim DVD-RW media and couldn't figure out why there was such a difference between his scan and my scans of the same media. So I re-burned the same .iso in Nero instead of Decrypter and got a better scan.

Pioneer DVR-111L 8.19 TDB Firmware - Verbatim 6x DVD-RW: 1st scan was burned in DVD Decrypter @ 6x (10:17), and 2nd Scan is of the same DVD-RW disc erased and re-burned at 6x with the same .iso in Nero instead of Decrypter.

The MID code is MKM 01RW6X01, and they weren't easy to find when I bought them about 2 weeks ago. But I ended up finding them at CDW.

CDW site said 1-2 weeks for shipping so I did a search and found them here:
http://www.cyberguys.com/templates/s...roductID=10093
Bought 10 @ 1.65 each plus ship and CA state tax totaled US$22.70.
I hope I get the excellent results you and Sapa are getting on these. Thanks [H]itman.

The 12X burn times on Yuden T02 reported by gregtherotterius have seemed a bit slow.

This is why, on following scan :
Burn speed selected : 12X
Burn time : 7mn 13 (6mn 30-6mn 40 expected)
Burnt with CD Speed using an iso.

The drive burns in z-clv sections and the drops in burn speed show that recalibrations are done regularly though the whole burn acting as some sort of aggressive WOPC on Benq drives.

I am not dissatisfied with the quality at the end of the burn as my batch is not of the same class as Greg's.

Wtf you mean lol?? Near 200 PIF for a 12x burn is awesome Anyway, I'd be very happy with that burn just because the BenQ 1650 does alot worse in the case of the same batch of t02 got around 1000 PIF's as opposed to the scores we are getting with the 111. For an 8x burn,the 1650 cant be beat, PIF wise, but for 12x, the 111 is very good with T02. With TYG02 however I;d have to say, based on what ive seen in others scans and in a couple of my own, that T02 is the better option. The burn you are praising, the one that got 98% and about 50 PIF was not a full disc anyway. This scan is probably a better indication of what my batch can produce at 12x
http://club.cdfreaks.com/showpost.ph...&postcount=290

I'll try another one but using cd/dvd speed to burn a test disc and report back.

Same as previous burn but a test disc;

heres the burn image as well; interesting how theres a little increase in cpu usage at around the 3.5gb mark, just where that little PIF pillar is.

Yeah, the drive burns this media pretty sure-handed at 12X !

edit : there are better scans of Benq burns in the Hall of Fame thread but they need unreal batches of TY. Ours are just good ;-)

lol, ive come to the conclusion that the hall of fame is a joke. It is for people who have 300 T02's sitting in the cupboard at any one time, not us mere mortals. I have 160 T02's at the moment and an unopened pack of 25 dl discs. It should take me a year to use up the rest of my T02's now that i have my burners in a proper computer and dont need to make test discs

First burn from my new pack of 25dl MKM 001;
burnt at 8x;
PIE's are looking a lot lower on this batch, from having 60 at the second layer.

Two most recent scans on Verbatim DVD+R DL. Interesting differences between the disc obtained in a 20 pc spindle (first scan) and a 10 pc spindle (second scan). PIE's are fairly constant in the 20 pc batch but PIF's are significantly hugher. Similar results for all burns on these two different batches.
MKM001
Burned @ 6X on IMGBurn
PIONEER 111L @ 8.19 tdb

weird, still, its more economically viable to buy the 25 packs/20 packs at least for me it is. The discs may have much higher PIE's at the second layer, but the PIF's are perfectly fine by my standards. You must have one hell of a good batch for your second scan, thats the least amount of PIF's total ive seen since ive been here, or at least from what i can recall.

Yes, gregtherotterius, I agree. I'm quite happy with both results but the second scan PIF's are quite low. I buy the 20 pc spindles on sale now.

Just received the VERBATIM 6X DVD-RW recommended by Sapa and [H]itman and couldn't be happier with the results. Never thought I'd see results like this on RW media.
